Dear Parents &/or Guardians:
As many of you know, this year’s Drama Club Production will be “Suessical, Jr.” We are
very excited about performing this show based on several of Dr. Suess’s famous books!
Following, you will find information about the Brunswick Acres Drama Club. Please read this
information carefully as there have been MANY changes to the format of this club
throughout the years. If your child is interested in participating in Drama Club and available
on the rehearsal days, please complete and return the following permission slip no later than
Friday, December 18th. If you have any unanswered questions after reading this letter,

Costs: Drama Club is being run through Afternoon Adventures this year. Please note the
following costs associated with participating in Drama Club.

Participation Fee: $85.00. This fee covers over 40 hours of rehearsal time as well as a
script, T-shirt and 2 free tickets to our performances. We are very aware of the difficult
economic status that many families are facing. Please contact Miss Barr or Mrs. Sadin if
your child would like to participate, but you are concerned about the cost. We will do our
best to provide financial assistance for every child who requires it. Checks can be made
payable to “Brunswick Acres Activity Fund” and placed in an envelope marked “Drama
Club Afternoon Adventures” along with the following registration form. The following
materials are covered in the participation fee:
 Script – Every child will receive his or her own script. Scripts must be present at
every rehearsal.
 T-Shirt – A T-shirt with the “Suessical” logo will be purchased for each child. Please
be sure to include your child’s T-shirt size on the registration form.
 Tickets – Every child will receive 2 free tickets for our performances.
Costume – Parents are asked to provide some pieces of their child’s costume to supplement
what Drama Club provides. Specific information about costumes will be sent home at a
later date.
Rehearsals: The cast of “Suessical” will be meeting on both Tuesdays and Thursdays from
3:30-5:00. Actors should be able to stay for the entire rehearsal, but if you have a
conflict, please contact Miss Barr to discuss it. At the conclusion of every rehearsal,
one parent must come into the building and pick up his or her child ON TIME. Please
be respectful of the directors’ time and promptly pick up your child!

January 5th is the first Drama Club meeting. Our first rehearsal will be an acting
workshop. This time will be used as an audition workshop to help children become
accustomed to the process of trying out for a play. Auditions will take place on
Thursday, January 7th.
Important Dates: Students must attend each dress rehearsal and performance. Please put
these dates on your calendar now! If your child can not attend one of these rehearsals,
he or she may not receive a speaking part.

Monday, March 22nd 3:30-6:30 & Wednesday, March 24th 1:35-4:30 - Cast In
Costume!!!
* Performances: At Brunswick Acres Auditorium
March 25th & 26th – 7:00 p.m. Performance
Casting: Students sing, dance, & act under the direction of Miss Barr, Mr. Coates & Miss
McCarthy. Students who wish to have a speaking part or singing solo must participate
in an audition. Information on auditions will be sent home upon return of this
permission slip.
Commitment: Students who wish to be in Drama Club must make a commitment to the group
to be at every rehearsal and performance with the exception of illness. Every student
in Drama Club is depended upon by their fellow actors. Please talk with your child
about the importance of commitment before signing the permission slip.
Auditions: Auditions will take place on Thursday, January 7th. Auditions are video taped
and scored by our directing staff then parts are assigned according to each student’s
ability. More information on auditions will be sent home before Holiday vacation.

the school at 5:00 p.m. I will arrange transportation for my child to attend
every dress rehearsal and performance at school. I have read this letter with
my child and we have discussed the commitment that is necessary to participate
in Drama Club.
