ReAct II Take on someone who has been made redundant and reduce staff overheads Information for Employers Up to £3,000 wage subsidies Why? Up to £1,000 funding for training Why is it so beneficial to your business? In today’s tough market conditions, it makes good business sense to keep overheads as low you possibly can. With ReAct contributing to an employee’s wages and helping to fund training, businesses like yours can significantly reduce staff costs. Multiple applications accepted What? What is ReAct? It is a package of support set up to help people who have been made redundant get back into employment quickly. The programme builds upon the successful ReAct initiative and comprises the following areas of support. • Employer Recruitment Support funds employers who recruit individuals made redundant in the last six months. The award offers up to £3,000 paid in four instalments over the first year of employment as a contribution towards wage costs. • Employer Training Support is a separate grant of up to £1,000 that can be put towards any external job-related training needed by the new recruit. • Employer Training Support can only be used in conjunction with Employer Recruitment Support. There is no limit to the number of people you can recruit through the ReAct initiative. Provided the individuals are eligible and your business qualifies under European funding rules, you can employ as many as you want and save your business thousands of pounds! Who? Who qualifies for the funding? Employer Recruitment and Training Support is available to your business if the individual you wish to recruit is either under formal notice of redundancy or has become unemployed in the last six months as a result of redundancy. The individual must have been resident in Wales at the time they were issued with notice of redundancy. Employer Recruitment and Training Support is available if: • your business is expanding and the post is new • you seek a justifiable replacement for a vacant post • the job is at least 16 hours per week Skills • People • Success 0845 60 661 60 www.SkillsPeopleSuccess.com 4166 ReAct Info Sheets for Employers_E.indd 1 23/06/2011 10:18 • the job is expected to last for at least 12 months • the job is not being supported by any other public or European funds • y our business has not reached the ‘de minimis’ threshold for State Aid rules. Important note: Individuals who might otherwise have been eligible are disqualified for funding if they have: • started working for you before your application for ReAct funding has been approved • been in continuous employment for six weeks or more since being made redundant. When? When will the funding be allocated? The ReAct team endeavours to process applications as quickly as possible. Employers normally receive notification within 10 working days of submitting a fully completed application form, often sooner if time is of the essence. The funding is then allocated in four instalments throughout the first year of employment. How? How do you apply? Your business can apply for Employer Recruitment and Training Support by completing an application form available from the ReAct team in Swansea or your local Careers Wales office. Alternatively, you can phone the helpline number below or acquire one from the individual applying for the vacant position, as they may already have been issued with an application pack. You are strongly advised to read the guidance notes before submitting an application as they contain important advice and information that could affect your eligibility for support. “We have already received £11,000 from ReAct, and that is an excellent way to help when you’re starting up an organisation, because working capital is always the key.” Steve Meredith General Manager, Prime Pac Solutions Ltd, Ebbw Vale. “The people we employ are vital to the success of our business – without good staff we are nothing. ReAct enables you to take on high quality staff at a subsidised rate.” Susan Richardson Administrator, Hafren Furnishers, Llanidloes By the way… As well as Recruitment and Training Support for businesses, ReAct also offers a vocational training grant specifically for redundant individuals if they have been made redundant or are under notice of redundancy.
