SBC Training and Organization Development Intern
In alignment with the County of Santa Barbara’s Commitment to People, the mission of the Talent and
Organization Development team is to build solutions that drive effective and efficient organizational
growth. We strive to accomplish this through the structure, process, strategy, selection, development,
engagement and retention of top talent to serve our county with the highest level of customer excellence.
Overview:
This Project based internship will be a minimum of 10 hours per week (hours are flexible and may be
extended as needed.) Interns will be in on the development and restructuring of the County of Santa
Barbara’s Training and Organizational Development programs. He or She will perform operational and
administrative function, gaining exposure to new trends in OD within a changing workplace environment.
Job Responsibilities:




Analyze data and create reports to help inform and drive the business
Conduct literature reviews and research to support OD projects
Support OD initiatives through project work as required
Assist in maintaining scheduling and other administrative tasks as needed
Potential 2016 Intern Projects:
Assist with the Following:









Coordination and planning annual Leadership Congress Retreat
Evaluation and restructuring of the current SBC learning models.
Evaluation of current performance and evaluation selection assessments
Creation of employee engagement surveys
Recommendations to help build a business case for any modifications.
Research in Talent Management trends in the industry and provide benchmarking.
Guidance around the strengths and areas for improvement at SBC
Marketing program marketing materials
Streamlining of current outdated processes
Qualifications:










In progress to earn an undergraduate or advanced degree in Human Resources or Organizational
Development, Human Resources Management, Business, or other related degree preferred.
Proven track record in effectively working with others to achieve results.
At least one year of business office experience
Relevant coursework or applicable experience in the area of project management is preferred
Superior work quality, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
Exceptional organizational skills, strong communication and follow-through
Self-starter who can work independently in a collaborative setting
Effective time management; able to balance numerous tasks/projects
Collaborate and communicate effectively on complex group projects with employees at various levels
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
