TITLE: Administrative Assistant LOCATION: Sacramento CENTER: Government Relations EXEMPTION: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Executive Assistant and VP POSITION SUMMARY: Provides administrative support to two lobbyists within the Center for Government Relations and under the direction of the lobbyists monitors legislation, drafts and delivers correspondence, and conducts research. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Drafts general correspondence, types, edits and proofreads various documents and reports Delivers letters to the Capitol for lobbyists Monitors bill tracking calendar and schedules appropriate legislative appointments Assists, screens and/or selectively refers phone calls to appropriate staff Makes travel arrangements and prepares expense reimbursement for the lobbyist Organizes and prepares materials for meetings which the lobbyist attends Coordinates attendance at meetings Coordinates and conducts some research projects Does special projects or miscellaneous tasks, as determined by the lobbyist Maintains rosters and other internal documents for the department, including database and website content CONTACTS: Regular contact with CMA staff, physician members, hospitals, medical staff professionals, state agencies staff, legislators, and legislative staff. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Analytical capability and strong writing skills Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload Ability to work and communicate effectively Ability to work well independently, with limited supervision Ability to handle heavy and diverse workload Knowledge of legislative process and decorum Accurate typing – 55 wpm Strong computer proficiency; prefer knowledge of: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Proficient use of Email and Internet Good telephone manner Some administrative experience helpful College level education desirable SUPERVISION: Works under the Executive Assistant and Department VP EQUIPMENT OPERATION: *Computer * Fax * Photo Copier * Telephone
