MHS Drama Club Officer Duties
All officers:
Work in conjunction with school, sponsor, officers, and members to create a fun and peaceful place for students
to create and appreciate live theatre, attend all club meetings, attend all officer meetings, serve in some
capacity during productions, represent the club at school functions and gatherings, plan meetings and functions
for the club.
President:
1. Oversee the responsibilities of all drama club officers. The president is in charge of making sure officers
fulfill their duties completely and efficiently.
2. Preside over meetings and maintain order.
3. Act as a liaison between student members and club sponsor.
4. Represent the Drama Club at school-wide activities and functions such as assemblies, freshman
orientation, etc.
5. Oversee any event the theatre program undertakes during the year. Whether it is a monthly drama club
or officer meeting, a play production, fundraiser, final showcase, field trip, the theatre banquet, etc., the
president is required to attend and oversee all such events. While every officer participates in decisions,
the president is in charge of each event’s overall organization.
6. Collaborate with the drama club sponsor and the officer team in order to plan and announce all drama
club meetings in a timely manner. Ensure all meetings are enjoyable, informative, and well organized.

7. Assist the drama club sponsor with whatever necessary. While the president is in charge of the club, its
sponsor has the final say and is ultimately above all decisions made by the president.
8. If cast in a production, the president is still responsible for ALL duties relating to the post. If the vice
president is not cast, he or she may stand in for the president. Otherwise, it is the president’s
responsibility to fulfill his or her club duties.
Vice-President:
1. Preside over meetings in the absence of the president
2. Act in the position of the president. If the president is unable to attend a meeting or event, it is the sole
responsibility of the vice-president to seek out information from the president that should be discussed
at a meeting.
3. Co-produce all events occurring throughout the year. While the president will oversee all events, it is
the duty of the vice-president to assist as needed.
4. Chair committee(s) as needed or appointed by president.
5. Serve as activities director for meetings and events.
6. If cast in a production, the vice president is still responsible for ALL duties relating to the post.

Assist the president in planning and preparing the meeting agendas.
Keep the records of meetings.
Attend to club correspondence.
Collect information from all committees and report to the club sponsor and officer team.
Organize and maintain active member phone and email list.
Chair committee(s) as needed or appointed by president.
If cast in a production, the secretary is still responsible for ALL duties relating to the post.
Treasurer:
1. Act as the head (chair) of the Front-of-House (FOH) committee for all events/ productions, coordinating
ticket sales, pre-sale dates, and ticket takers and ushers.
2. Organize club fund-raisers (as needed).
3. Manage club money and keep accurate records.
4. Make club financial report available and organized to officers/sponsor.
5. If cast in a production, the treasurer is still responsible for ALL duties relating to the post.
Publicist:
1. Design artwork for club posters, programs, and t-shirts.
2. Create and distribute a monthly drama club newsletter. The newsletter must cover all upcoming events
and new information of which the club should be aware.
3. Create logos and advertisements for all theatre events/productions. It is the publicist’s responsibility to
ensure all officers are doing their part to help publicize drama department events.
4. Ensure flyers are put up around the building and announcements are made at school via Buff TV as well
as announcements and articles printed in the Black & Gold and the McAlester News Capital. All
flyers/announcements/articles MUST receive PRIOR approval from sponsor before submitted anywhere.
5. Coordinate with Buff TV in the creating of commercials/trailers for productions.
6. Oversee the creation of the “callboard” outside of the drama room with the assistance of the historian.
7. If cast in a production, the publicist is still responsible for ALL duties relating to the post.
Historian:

Photograph all drama club events and productions.
Create the drama club scrapbook - news clippings, posters, programs, etc.
Assist the publicist with the “callboard.”
Collaborate with the publicist and sponsor to put updated photographs in the newspapers, newsletter,
and on the drama club website.
5. Keeps the records of all activities: plays, production dates, casts, crews, etc.
6. If cast in a production, the historian is still responsible for ALL duties relating to the post.
