Summer Term 2015
Homework tasks will focus on Mayans, Aztecs and Native Americans for the Summer
Term. Children must choose a variety of tasks from the sections below. The minimum
amount of time spent on each task should be 30 minutes. However, if you are very
interested in a task and want to spent more time than this please do so. Some tasks will
naturally take more time than others . The aim is to get 50 points before the end of the
term.

Create a board game 5 points
Literacy Learning 15 points each
Design a Mayan or Aztec menu
Research the history of chocolate
Research Aztec religious beliefs
Research the main tribes and their
different cultures/ lifestyles – write a
fact file to explain your findings.
Make a DVD or mini documentary
of your research.
Create a game which would have been
played by the Mayans, Aztecs or
Native Americans.
Play it with your friends or family
members.
Geographical Learning- 7 points
Locate the continents & countries of N
& S America. Create a map with a
key showing the countries.
RE Learning- 15 points
Create an information book
about the different Mayan
Gods.Try to include

Historical Learning- 10 points
Place the events of the Aztecs and
Mayans on a timeline using dates
of special events.
Mathematical Learning- 20 points
Research the Mayan numerical
system and write out a multiplication
grid using their number system.
Creative Learning- 10 points each
More Literacy- 15 points each
Create a model Totem pole
Create your own crossword based
around the Native American theme.
Create a model of Tenoctitlam
Mayans or Native Americans
Read the story of Pocahontas, and
watch the film. Write a comparison
of the two.
Design Aztec glyphs to make a
glyph printing block.
Write your own story based on the
Native Americans.
Make an Aztec head-dress.
Interview a tribe member (use a
family member or friend)
Make a model home for the Aztecs,
Research weaving and create your
own friendship bracelet
Research Aztec jewellery and make
your own.
Investigate the complicated system
of two calendars that the Mayas &
Aztecs used.
Design and create your own
chocolate bar and the packaging for it.
