PEDALS STABILIZERS *IMPORTANT! Please keep away from the flywheel at all times. Contact with moving parts may result in serious injury. 1 2 1 FIRST THINGS FIRST GET CONNECTED HEADPHONES Make sure the connections to the ports in the back of your console are tight and secure and that your bike is connected to an outlet with the included AC adapter. To power on your Peloton bike, press and hold the orange power button at the top of your touchscreen for three seconds. Follow the onscreen instructions to connect your bike to the Internet and set up your account. In just moments, you’ll be ready to ride! We encourage you to use headphones with a six-foot cord or Bluetooth wireless headphones. This will allow for proper movement on the bike. The Peloton bike accepts any standard 3.5mm headphone jack. You may adjust the volume using the buttons on the right-hand side of the touchscreen. CYCLING SHOES You don’t have to log in and log out every time you ride and you don’t need to power off the bike. Your bike will sleep after about five minutes of inactivity. To wake it up, just tap the orange power button at the top of your touchscreen once. If you do shutdown, tap and hold the power button for three seconds to turn it back on. Your Peloton bike comes with LOOK Delta compatible pedals and one pair of LOOK Delta compatible cleats that attach to the bottom of traditional cycling shoes. We encourage you to use this system to clip in to your Peloton bike. If you prefer a different pedal system, you may easily replace them. For more information and tips on cycling shoes, please visit support.pelotoncycle.com. IMPORTANT! It is unsafe to ride without proper shoes. We strongly recommend that you clip in with compatible bike shoes. 4 STAYING LOGGED IN WEBSITE You can view your performance metrics, live class schedule, and a lot more on our website. Log in to pelotoncycle.com/login with the same username (or email) and password you use to log in on the bike. 5 CLIPPING IN 2 To clip into the pedal, point your foot slightly down and carefully lock your cleat into the clip by applying pressure as you pedal down. The motion is similar to putting on a pair of high-heeled shoes or clipping into skis. CLEATS, PEDALS, & CLIPPING IN/OUT CLEATS & PEDALS Your bike comes with the standard LOOK Delta compatible pedals and cleats. We encourage you to use these pedals and affix the cleats to compatible bike shoes. See the diagram below for instructions on attaching your cleats to your cycling shoes. CLEAT BOLTS CLEAT 6 It’s also recommended that you tighten your cleats on occasion, as heavy use can loosen them. For more information and helpful tips on cleats and pedals, please search for “pedals” on our support site at support.pelotoncycle.com. CLIPPING OUT To clip out of your pedals, simply rotate your ankle while keeping a flat foot and swinging your heel out, away from the bike. Clip out one foot at a time, starting with the foot at the top of the pedal stroke. Then, step off the bike behind the still clipped-in foot. Finally, while standing, unclip your second foot using the same rotating motion. It might take a bit of practice to get it right, but you’ll be a pro before you know it! 4 MM ALLEN KEY CLEAT WASHERS 7 STABILIZERS 3 GET TO KNOW YOUR BIKE THE RESISTANCE KNOB Turning the resistance knob to the right increases your resistance and turning it to the left decreases your resistance. When in class, you will see the percent of resistance applied reflected on your screen. The bike is incredibly stable if you set it up on a hard surface (hard wood, tile, concrete, etc). There are six stabilizers and it is important that the four outermost stabilizers are solidly touching the floor to prevent the bike from rocking. To adjust the stabilizers, turn each one to the right to tighten away from the floor and to the left to extend the stabilizer down. These are invaluable for uneven floors! LEVERS Make sure all levers are completely tightened before you begin your ride. Getting poked by the adjustment levers? Pull the levers out and away from the bike and rotate them to a neutral position that is out of the way. We created this neat lever system to give you maximum leverage to tighten or loosen each adjustment point and still keep the lever out of your way while you ride. IMPORTANT! The resistance knob also acts as a brake. Push down firmly on the knob to quickly stop the rotation of the flywheel. 8 9 SET THE SEAT DEPTH Release the seat slider adjustment lever by turning it to the left until you can comfortably glide the seat forward and backward. Adjust the seat distance so that you have a gentle bend in your elbows with relaxed shoulders while seated on the bike. You should never be hunched over, nor should you be hyperextended. TOO CLOSE TOO FAR 4 ADJUST YOUR BIKE SETTINGS SET THE SEAT HEIGHT Release the seat post adjustment lever by turning it to the left until you can comfortably glide the seat post up and down. Bring your bike seat (saddle) to the height of your hip. Turn the lever all the way to the right to firmly tighten. Note the number on the seat post as this will be your seat height. When clipped in and seated on the bike, you should have only a 10 slight bend in your knee. Your leg should never be hyperextended at any point in the pedal stroke. SET THE HANDLEBAR HEIGHT We recommend setting your handlebars so that they are as high as your seat or slightly higher. If you prefer a more relaxed ride, try raising the handlebar height until your torso is slightly more upright. Personal injuries and level of experience may determine the height of your handlebars, so listen to your body! To raise the handlebars, release the handlebar post adjustment lever with one hand while holding the handlebars in place with the other. Then gently lift or lower the handlebars, taking care to find the optimal position. You can also tilt the Peloton touchscreen to achieve the best viewing angle at all heights. IMPORTANT! If you ever feel any pain, discomfort, or shortness of breath, please stop riding and talk to a doctor. Riding the Peloton bike should be an enjoyable and vigorous fitness experience. 11 MAINTENANCE & CARE WARRANTY AFTER EACH WORKOUT PERIODIC MAINTENANCE LIMITED HOME USE WARRANTY* It’s important to keep your bike clean and dry.
