A UNIQUE LOCATION: Ndutu, Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Ndutu is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, in the southeastern plains of the Serengeti ecosystem.
The plains around Ndutu are the main holding ground for migratory animals where vast herds congregate and
linger for more than four months, from December to April, before they start moving across the Sereng eti in
search of greener pastures and water.
Ndutu area forms an important part of the Serengeti ecosystem, in particular the short grass plains which
provide calving grounds for wildebeest and other migratory animals, usually taking place between January and
March.
Big herds of migratory animals in their hundreds of thousands can be seen here from December before they start
fanning out into central Serengeti in April / May, with predators including lions, cheetah, hyenas, and jackals
closely following.
Best time to travel
Ndutu is renowned because of the Great Migration but the area is also famous for its resident game, including
lions, cheetah, leopard, genets, striped hyena, elephants, impala, hartebeest, giraffes, dik dik, and reedbucks
which can be viewed throughout the year.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES & SERVICES (Net rates) :
Walking Safari: Our nature walk is designed to fit into your safari schedule, and can be in the morning or late
afternoon when tropical temperatures are cool. A walk in Ndutu, accompanied by guides and a ranger is an excellent
break from game drives, where you will learn several fascinating facts about nature, birds, reptiles, insects and medicinal
uses of local plants which you may not fully appreciate from the seat of your safari car. We have a choice of three
different trails of between 1.5hrs to 3hrs.
Bush Lunch: Bush meals are a real restaurant set-up in the wilderness with chairs, tables, table cloth, porcelain,
glassware, silver cutlery, a chef overseeing live cooking and waiters. The private bush meal site is carefully appointed to
provide an environment of exclusivity and bring guests closer to nature in the fresh air. A truly unforgettable experience
Maasai Boma Diner: It’s another fantastic way to experience a bush meal. Our lodge has a Maasaï boma where our
guests will be invited for dining under the stars around a crackling log fire. Truly an unforgettable evening in Ndutu.
Champagne Bush breakfast: Guests wanting to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a bit of romance can arrange
for a champagne breakfast in the privacy of their tent’s balcony or for the more adventurous, a champagne breakfast in
the bush.
Sundowner: Ndutu sunsets are beautiful, and we love sharing this unique African bush experience with our guests over
a sundowner. The drive to the sundowner site normally starts from the lodge at 6pm or earlier arriving in time for the
brief moment of the sun setting over a low hill on the horizon, leaving behind colorful displays of red, gold, orange,
crimson…that lingers long after the actual disappearance of the sun. Some guests on game drives would prefer
proceeding straight on to the sundowner site to capture the sunset without going back to the lodge. The sundowner site is
carefully chosen, offering uninterrupted wide views of the sunset. Guests will have a choice of drinks, dry snacks and
“canapés” to pick. The serene, natural sundowner setting and the contrasting sunset colors is an experience that will stay
in your memory for a long time to come.

Swimming Pool: Just in front of the lounge is the swimming pool, offering a nice view for those seated in the bar. The
pool deck is elevated about 2.2 meters above the ground level offering excellent view of the lake and the plains. The main
pool has a surface area of 105 square metres, with the shallow end 0.9 metres deep and deepest end 1.5 metres deep.
Connected to the main pool is the Children’s pool with a surface area of 38 square metres and uniform depth of 0.9 metres.
Both pools are circular in design, slightly overlapping and making a figure-8 shape. They have an extended deck of 3.5
meters wide all around covered in non-slip natural stone on the surface and guard rails around the edge for safety. The
shower and changing rooms are below the deck for privacy. This is the only property in Ndutu Area that will have a
Swimming Pool.
