Summer Day Camp 2017! at Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary ABOUT DAY CAMP: Youth ages 5-12 are invited to these day-long programs which feature learning activities, games, swimming, and crafts in small age-appropriate groups. Camps are interactive and led by a team of trained and enthusiastic educators. The camp day concludes with a special program for parents/guardians, designed and presented by campers. Day Camps run from 8:30am to 4:00 pm, with an after-camp option that allows campers to stay later in the day. Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary is a nature preserve and learning center, open to all, dedicated to fostering an understanding, appreciation and protection for the environment. We are located in Sarona, between Rice Lake and Spooner just west of Long Lake. Hunt Hill protects nearly 600 acres of diverse habitat. Visitors can experience glacial lakes, meadow, new growth and old growth forest as well as two tamarack bogs all within a short walk of the main camp. In addition, miles of trails are free of charge and open to the public to hike and explore. Hunt Hill has a full calendar of year-round events, including Prairie Fling festival in the spring, youth camps in the summer, and nature programs spring through fall. We’ll find out as we learn about the carnivores of Hunt Hill. 6/27 Feathered Friends: Let’s go birding and explore what flying feathered creatures call Hunt Hill home. 6/28 Wizard Camp: We’re going to be wizards today at camp! Bring your magic wand, find fantastic beasts and explore the enchanted woods at Hunt Hill! 6/29 Buzzin Bugs: We’re investigating insects! Some may think bugs are creepy, but we think they are COOL! Come learn why insects are amazing. 6/30 Going Fishing: Spend the day at the lakes of Hunt Hill as we bait, cast and catch fish! Great for all levels of anglers. JULY 7/3 Pioneer Camp: Travel back in time and discover the lives of pioneer children nearly 200 years ago. Learn new games and explore life before television. 7/5 Hunger Games: Design your district outfit, practice survival techniques and see how well you can survive in a hunger games obstacle course. 7/6 Dino-Mite: Excavate bones, hunt like a velociraptor and explore the world of dinosaurs. 7/7 Rockin’ Reptiles: These scaly, coldblooded creatures are COOL! Discover just how unique these critters are. 7/10 Pirate Camp Dress in your pirate best as we find buried treasure, escape trouble, speak pirate and learn about the lives of these sea “lubers”. 7/11 The Unofficial Minecraft Camp: Be creative and work as a team as we bring this popular video game to life. 7/12 Space Camp: This camp is out of this world! Experience science up close and personal as we conduct crazy experiments. 7/20 Wet and Wild: Slide like an otter, go pond ‘mucking’, have a sponge fight and water-fun all day long. 7/21 Yuck! Camp: Nature can be yucky! We’ll get grossed out as we learn about the distasteful side of nature.
