Julie Talley
5-6 SOPHOMORE
GUARD
SALEM, SC
In 2002-03 (Freshman): Saw action in 26 games, started two...scored
career-high 18 points against Furman (12-14-02)...also scored in double
digits (11) against Maryland (3-7-03) in ACC Tournament first round
game...went 6-7 from the free throw line against Furman for a .857
mark...dished out career-best five assists against High Point (12-1703)...pulled down career-best four rebounds against North Carolina
(1-16-03) and at Maryland (1-9-03)...made career-high four three pointers against Furman (12-14-02)...ranked second on team in three-point
percentage (.318)...ranked fourth on the team in three-pointers made
with 14.
Before Clemson: Played for Amanda Holder at Seneca High
School...MVP of her team for four years...named all region for four
years...named all-conference for four seasons...two-timeall-state
selection...during her high school career, her team had a 115-6 record
and won the state championship her freshman season.
Coach Davis on Talley:
“Julie is a ‘fiery’ little guard who can score, whether it is off
dribble penetration, the pull-up jumper or the three-pointer. She is
very good with the ball in her hands. She is capable of playing
either guard position.”
Why Clemson?
“I chose Clemson because it’s close to my family and friends. I am
really close to my family, and when I first started to narrow my choices
down, I wanted to go far way. After attending a camp in Pittsburgh one
summer, I decided I better stay close to home. The facilities at Clemson
are top of the line, and I really liked how they supported the athletes
with top of the line equipment.
“The environment at Clemson is just like my home enviroment so
it wasn’t that hard to adjust. I’m majoring in sports managment and
Clemson is a great school for PRTM majors.
“The second main reason I chose Clemson was because of the
coaching staff. I enjoyed being around every one of them. On the
court, they push you to be your best, but off the court they are like
your best friend that would do anything for you.”
