What is it about https://youtu.be/TXe8oPtt vCg Autonomous vehicles vs. automated vehicles OEM Top-down model L0 to L5 (2020 +) Vs. ”Automated buses” Straigth to L4.. Sort of #SOHJOA SOHJOA? SOHJOA! Some lessons learned • Traffic arrangements • Risk assesment • Awareness • 4 Seasons Opportunity MINTC and Trafi have allowed remotely supervised testing in real traffic conditions -> • • • • • • • New business opportunities through pilots, test and experiments Out-of-peak-hour services ITS systems ”Flight” control Winter automation Public transportation What else? What should we do? • Open co-operation • Proactive mental leading Nobody asks us to join unless were active ourselves • Pilots and tests Open road Cold environment • Development Machine automation experise • Bold openings Large scale deployment eg. first permanent busline To learn about cost Use cases and acceptance True efficiency Can we do it better Pittsburgh-scandic version? => Lots of sizzle and new business Financing and partners SOHJOA-6Aika is part of a Finnish cities’ collaborative 6Aika -project family funded by European Structural Fund. Our partners are Aalto University, Forum Virium Helsinki, Finnish Geographical Institute and Tampere University of Technology. Alongside the 6Aika -project, Metropolia is coordinating government funded Tekes project aiming to build company consortiums to focus the development work. Operation of automated vehicles in Finnish environment is tested as part of the NordicWay - project funded by Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi and Finnish Transport Agency Liikennevirasto. NordicWay project tackles the challenges of new traffic services and road transport automation. Lets just do it
