SILVER ARROW NEWSLETTER April 7, 2013 Mrs. Casey Hamilton- Nominated for NH Teacher of the Year During the past month, Mrs. Hamilton has submitted an extensive application and letters of recommendation as part of the nomination process. Tomorrow Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Rist will attend the reception in Concord for all 2013 nominees for the NH Teacher of the Year. We all wish Mrs. Hamilton good luck in this exciting process! We are very proud of her!! Huge Turnout for Art for a Cure Auction Friday evening was a huge success for the Parent Project for Muscular Dystrophy. The event was packed and the bidding fast and furious! It was great to see so many there, including the Superintendent Mike Morgan! Thank you to those who helped organize this event- Crystal Buswell, Rebecca Gowing, Clarissa Gowing, Laura Gowing. I was able to pick up a few pieces of student art for my office! Red Sox Rally Day Another event to help the Parent Project for MD! We raised $302 in donations from students and staff for being able to wear Red Sox caps and apparel to school! Even the Yankees fans were generous!! College Planning Night There was a hearty turnout for this informative evening. NHHEAF sponsored this free parent seminar about the ins and outs of the college planning process and an overview of how financial aid works. Parents were so enthused with the information they received, this will be offered again in the future! If you have questions please contact Elaine McLean or Helen Rist. NPTO Meeting -Tuesday, April 16 at 9am MAIN STREET ART Create a fun summer at Main Street Art! Camp registration is open. Check out our many funtastic offerings like Alien Interactions, Art in Movement and Art Inspired by Food. Weekly camps run from June 24TH - August 2ND from 9-12 PM and 1-4 PM. See www.newfieldsart.org for more information. Annual Safe Kids 500 A FREE bike ride event for kids of all ages held at NH Motor Speedway in Loudon on May 1st, 2013. This activity is sponsored by Hannaford and organized by Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, Safe Kids NH, and Children’s Speedway Charities. The goal is to promote helmet use and safe riding by all bicycle riders. Free bike safety and helmet checks will be provided by S&W Sports, The Bike Walk Alliance of NH and the Brain Injury Association. The time for the actual ride on the track will be 5:30-7:30 pm with registration beginning at 5:00pm. Healthy snacks and water will be provided. There is no pre-registration but questions may be directed to the Injury Prevention Center at 877-783-0432. Square 1 orders are due Tuesday, April 9th. Let me know if you need any more information.
