CLASS OF 2017 GRADUATION INSTRUCTIONS
DATE: Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2:00. p.m., rain or shine. If good weather, the ceremonies will
be held on the James G. Anderson Athletic Field. In case of rain, graduation will be held in the
gymnasium. The decision will be made at 10:00 a.m. and announced on WATD and Connect-Ed.
TICKETS: Each graduate will receive four (4) tickets after graduation rehearsal to be used in case of
inclement weather. Tickets are not needed for stadium seating. If handicap accommodations will be
needed please call the main office at 781-834-5050 as soon as possible.
DIPLOMAS: Only diploma covers will be issued during the graduation ceremony. You will receive
your diploma in the library after graduation. Diplomas will not be given to students who owe money.
No payments can be accepted on graduation day. You will have to return on Monday to pay your
outstanding bills prior to receiving your diploma.
GRADUATION OUTFITS: Marshfield has gone green! Our Graduation Outfits are made from
recycled plastic. To avoid melting the outfit, do not iron it without a cloth between the iron
and the outfit. You may steam the outfit to remove any fold lines. There will be a recycle box
in the gymnasium after the ceremony if you do not wish to keep your outfit.
GRADUATION LINE-UP: At the rehearsal, you will be assigned to a Teacher, a Row and a Line-up
classroom. Note who is in front of you and who is behind you. Line up quickly when you arrive at
2:30 on Wednesday, May 31st.

GRADUATION DAY:
1. On Saturday, June 3rd, arrive at your Line-Up Classroom at 12:45 PM – see Line-Up
Classrooms on reverse side.
2. Check in with your Line-Up Teacher. Remain in the room until the signal is given to begin the
procession. Please do not visit with friends in other Line-Up rooms.
Leave all valuables with parents (pocketbooks, cameras, etc.)
3. Your Line-Up Teacher will take attendance and give the names of any absent students to
the main office so that their diplomas can be pulled out.
4. Any graduate dressed in inappropriate attire will be sent to an Assistant Principal/Designee.
5. When you begin the procession and when you file into your seat, please leave a space for any
absent student.
6. First graduate on Line-Up List will be the first into the Line-Up Row.
PLEASE PUSH IN! CHAIRS ARE COUNTED AND CORRECT!
STAND DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE CHAIR THAT MATCHES YOUR PLACE IN LINE.
7. Graduates should remain standing until after the Patriotic song is sung.
8. Graduates should watch the Class Marshall for directions to be seated. Please sit in unison.
9. Class Marshall will raise the baton to signal that each row of graduates is to stand. Please do this
in unison.
10. Graduates should take the diploma in the left hand and shake the hand of the Principal with the
right hand.
11. When you return to your row, remain standing until all in your row have returned, then be seated
as a group.
12. Please ask your family and friends not to clap when you receive your diploma.
13. Tassels should be worn on the right side of your cap. After you receive your diploma and return to
your chair, move it to the left side of your cap.
14. After teachers and dignitaries have recessed, graduates will form a large circle on the field to throw
their caps.
15. The Graduation Ceremony is an important community celebration. Please participate in a
dignified manner. Make the class of 2017 the best.
16. After the CAP THROW return to the Library to receive your diploma insert.
