Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter for this school
year. We are just a few days away from another very successful
school year. Today, we celebrated literacy with our annual Book
Parade. We had SO MANY kids participate in this year’s parade. Thank you so much, parents, for modeling and encouraging
a love of literacy.
I want to take this moment to say how much I appreciate my Pine
Tree school family. Our staff members are so fortunate to be
surrounded by such wonderful families.
I hate to start talking about next school year already (YIKES!), but
there are some dates to put on your calendar!
July 23, 5:00-7:00 pm…. Back to School Picnic
July 28, 2:00-3:30 …. Meet the teacher, drop supplies, tour building
July 28, PM (time to be determined)…. Parent Night
July 29….. First Day of School
Have a safe and wonderful summer!
-Mrs. Mize

SAVE THE DATE!

by Mr. McKibban, 2nd Grade Teacher
One Saturday afternoon, 3 friends decide to go to the
movies. The movie theater, Mega Movie Plex, has 10
screens! The problem is that all three friends can’t
agree on which movie to see, so they go to different
movies. Lucky for them, the starting time for all three
movies is 12:30. Julia’s movie is 1 hour and 35 minutes
long. Jean’s movie gets out at 2:15. Jeff’s movie is 90
minutes long.
Students with All A’s to be recognized by the Board
of School Trustees at the AHS Auditorium on June
22, 2015 at the following times:
Last names beginning with Z-M at 6:00 p.m.
Last names beginning with L-A at 7:00 p.m.
Please mark your calendar. Letters of invitation will be
forthcoming.
Who gets out first? Second? Third?
Which movie is the longest? Shortest?

In Need of…
ADOPT-A-BED
By Miss Mac
If you’re spring cleaning, think of the art room! We’ll be
using recycled materials next year – more cardboard
sculpture and collage – and we need materials! We
can use any of the following donations to spice up our
activities:
This year with the increase in garden beds at Pine Tree,
we are inviting families to “adopt a bed” for the summer.
Any family interested can sign up to take care of a garden bed during summer vacation.
Let us know if you are interested and we can send an
adoption form home with your child.
 Cereal boxes (thin cardboard is easier for little fingers
to cut for cardboard sculptures)
 Paper towel and toilet paper tubes (for sculptures,
these are highly coveted in the art room!)
 Child-appropriate magazines (for collage materials)
 Yarn remnants (for weaving projects)
 Fabric remnants (for textile projects)

Literacy Corner
By Mrs. Bieber, Media Assistant
Encourage your children to keep up on their reading over the summer by signing them up for the Summer Reading
Program at the Avon-Washington Township Library. A Librarian from the Public Library came to Pine Tree on Friday
morning to tell all the students about their Summer Reading Program - look for information in your child’s folder. The
amount your child reads can earn them prizes. A win-win for them!
Library News
All Pine Tree Media Center books need to be returned by the last day of school. If your child has books checked out,
please return them as soon as possible. Overdue notices were sent home last week, and will be sent home again next
Tuesday. Call Mrs. Bieber at 544-6500 or email at [email protected] with any questions. Any books not
returned by the last day of school will be considered lost and a replacement fee for the item will be assessed to
your child’s library account.
ACSC Rolls Out New Technology Initiative - (STEP-UP)
