VCA PARENTS
We have a family that needs help getting their
elementary child to and from school only 5x a
month. They live in Hibbing around 5th Ave.
and 28th St. If you think you could help,
please call the school office for more info.
THANK YOU!!
Christmastime. The sounds, the smells, the
feelings. Cheerful music is playing in the
background, songs about peace and jingle
bells. As you walk around the block, you hear
the sounds of your friends laughing as they
build snowmen and put up their Christmas
lights. When you open your front door, the
smells of Christmas fill the air: gingerbread
cookies, fresh pine, and warm vanilla
candles. Your family begins to decorate the
tree, your younger siblings chattering about
the toys they want for Christmas. You smile,
taking a deep breath; Christmas is your
favorite holiday.
Unfortunately, no one’s Christmas is as
picture-perfect as the one I just described.
The good news is, as amazing as those things
are, the real meaning of Christmas is so much
better. “For unto us a child is born, to us a
son is given…and He will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace (New International Version,
Isaiah 9:6) Christmas is about celebrating the
fact that God was willing, gracious, and
loving enough to send His own Son into the
world, as a helpless baby, to save us from our
sins. He sacrificed His own Son so that we
could have a restored relationship with Him.
THAT is why Christmas is my favorite holiday.
So, let’s all take a step back from all the
Christmas hype, and take a moment to thank
God for the precious Gift He gave us.
