The SCKC Christmas Party was held on
Thursday, December 15, at Chris and Rob
Corum’s home in Seward. There was a lot of
good food and fellowship as well as a lovely
gift exchange.
Thanks Chris and Rob (and their 3 babies) for
graciously opening your home to those who
were able to attend!

The breed for January is the Great Dane. The AKC officially recognized the Great Dane in 1887, and
it is the 15th most popular breed of dog. These “gentle giants” are patient, friendly and dependable
and are members of the working group. The German name of the breed is Deutsche Dogge, or
German Mastiff and the French name is Dogue Allemand. The Great Dane is one of the tallest dog
breeds but they have a life span of only 6-8 years. Did you know…they were developed as a boar
hound by the Germans?

Fun Match submitted and a C Match for obedience.
Newsletter: Tanya Williams missing the email and snail mail.
Goldenrod candidates for this year so far are: Mary Bristol, Tabitha Phillips, Pat Schindler,
Linda Soukup and Pending Marvene Wurst, Diane Nitz, and Tanya Williams.
Obedience classes end 21 Nov 16 and the CGC test will be at the last class.
-Vicki Nolte gave a short report on the shows’ progress.
-Nomination committee for 2017 is Troy Dvorak, Chris Corum and Aaron Pelan with Alternates Cindy
Hill and Vicki Nolte.
-Yearly Award Recognitions are needed for the dangles and or plaques. If you received a title in any
venue, submit your dog’s name and the title information.

-The Boy Scouts have a new dog show patch
-Insurance for the Boston Terrier Club will be at their own expense
-Marvene and Howard Wurst have lost their last Frenchie.

A NOTE FROM VICKI NOLTE
Just giving everyone a head’s up on the upcoming seminar by Dr. Carmen Battaglia at the Kansas
City shows in March.
This seminar will be held in a room across the hall from where the dog show rings are at K.C.s
American Royal. So it’s in the same building as the show. Attached are two pages to print out and
take to meeting or forward to anyone you think might be interested. One tells what the seminar is
about and the other is the form to sign up.
