The breed for January is the Great Dane. The AKC officially recognized the Great Dane in 1887, and it is the 15th most popular breed of dog. These “gentle giants” are patient, friendly and dependable and are members of the working group. The German name of the breed is Deutsche Dogge, or German Mastiff and the French name is Dogue Allemand. The Great Dane is one of the tallest dog breeds but they have a life span of only 6-8 years. Did you know…they were developed as a boar hound by the Germans? Attached are two pages to print out and take to meeting or forward to anyone you think might be interested. One tells what the seminar is about and the other is the form to sign up.
