The Oklahoma 4-H Program has purchased Fender Blender Bikes

The Oklahoma 4-H Program has purchased Fender Blender Bikes — also known as blender
bikes — through the Walmart Youth Voice: Youth Choice grant. Before you use this equipment, please review this information thoroughly so that we keep it in good working order
for everyone! This equipment was a substantial investment.
1. Make sure that the bike is supervised by an adult or teen that has been trained on all of these instructions. This should not be a free time activity.
2. Do not allow youth to ride bike with an empty blender, or without a blender. The bike should only be
ridden with a securely attached blender containing ingredients.
3. Make sure blender is secured with straps before starting to peddle.
4. Make sure rider stops peddling before removing blender from the bike.
5. When preparing the blender with ingredients it is important to layer ingredients in the following order:
liquid, soft ingredients (yogurt, spinach, etc.), firm ingredients (frozen fruit), This allows weight of ingredients to flow down to blades.
6. Use free hand to cover strap on top of the blender when fastening and unfastening the strap. This will
keep the strap from hitting anyone or anything if it slips.
7. Make sure both prongs on the strap are secured under the bar and that the strap is spread out on top on
each side of the lid.
8. The seat height should be adjusted to the proper height for each rider. To adjust seat height, pull the lever below the seat out and raise/lower the seat to desired height. Fold the lever back down completely.
Do not leave lever partially open as this could cause seat to fall with rider.
9. Adjust seat height so that when rider is peddling, a slight bend in the knee is present when peddle is closest to the ground. If knee is not bent, the bike is too tall. Anyone from age 7 and up should be able to
ride the bike.

Act of 1964, Executive Order 11246 as amended, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and other federal and state laws and regulations,
does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age religion, disability, or status as a veteran in any of its policies, practices, or procedures.
10. If a rider cannot move the peddles forward, peddle in reverse slightly and try again. Sometimes the fruit
or other foods will stop the blade.
11. Do not allow participants to stand up and ride the bike. They should sit on the seat. If they cannot sit
and ride, they may be too small to ride.
12. To clean blender, fill the pitcher 3/4 full with hot water and add a couple of drops of dish soap. Place
blender back on the bike and secure. Have participants ride to wash the blender. Rinse lid and blender
thoroughly with hot water and dry. Place blender lid inside pitcher, do not put lid on pitcher to allow for
proper drying.
13. Wipe down the bike with a towel after using for program.
14. Clean all equipment and store equipment in the container it came in and return to the District Office or
designated check-out location.
