ASCC/Patrick Henry/Hobson State Alumnus of the Year
Award Criteria
The ASCC/Patrick Henry/Hobson State Alumnus of the Year Award was
established by Dr. Reginald Sykes, ASCC president, and the Alumni Committee in
2013 to recognize and honor an outstanding alumnus from each ASCC campus
who has made significant contributions to his/her respective career, community,
and the College. Nominees must be graduates of ASCC/Patrick Henry/Hobson
State.
The Selection Committee’s decision will be based on the following four
criteria:
1. Community Leadership – The nominee shall have demonstrated a
record of community participation: public, private, civic, fraternal,
religious, etc.
2. Service to the College Community – The nominee shall exemplify the
College’s mission and commitment to the community and he/she shall
have demonstrated this with service to and interest in the College and/or
a church, political or charitable service, which may include, but is not
limited to, financial contributions or volunteer services.
3. Honors and Awards Received – This includes both personal and
professional honors and awards received by the nominee.
4. Distinction in Nominee’s Field – Such attainment may be evidenced by
achievement or advancement in career, earned degrees or professional
recognition, and/or outstanding contributions to the field of endeavor.
In addition, this award is presented only one time to an individual; therefore,
all previous recipients are ineligible for subsequent consideration. Nominees will
be solicited from faculty, staff, and friends of the college. Nominations are
confidential: all candidates remain unaware of their nomination. Nominee forms
must be submitted to the Alumni Committee by the published deadline provided
herein. The Alumnus of the Year recipient from each ASCC campus will be
honored at the Alumni Banquet during homecoming week.

Nomination forms must be in the office of the college president, located on
the Monroeville campus, by January 8th.
