Say each picture name slowly together, like /sh/ - /ee/ - /p/
Count how many letter sounds are in each word (note that you’re NOT counting physical letters,
just letter sounds, or phonemes).
Ask your child to clip the correct answer.
Picture Key
3 Phonemes: sheep, thumb, beach, cat, bus, shell, ten, cheese (pp. 2-3)
4 Phonemes: queen, bread, skate, clap, plug, brush, box, tent (pp. 4-5)
5 Phonemes: stream, crust, plant, blend, crest, stand, street, stump (pp. 6-7)
