th 12 Annual Miss LifeWalk Pageant Benefiting LifeWalk 2015 Sunday, July 26, 2015, 6:00pm The Rose Room Welcome to Miss LifeWalk! In 1990 LifeWalk began as a means to raise funds for AIDS services in Dallas. LifeWalk has raised and distributed more than $8 million for AIDS services throughout the Dallas Community, to date. The Miss LifeWalk Pageant is annual event held in conjunction with LifeWalk and benefits AIDS Arms, Inc. Miss LifeWalk may promote LifeWalk at other events throughout the year. 1 All LifeWalk teams are strongly encouraged to participate and sponsor a contestant in the pageant. Teams motivate and challenge each other to raise their fundraising goals, contributing to the continued success of LifeWalk. Ultimately, we are one big LifeWalk team!! With your help, we will provide an evening of camp and entertainment!! Contestants are encouraged to “show” their LifeWalk spirit!!! We hope that you have fun!! Good Luck!! Thank you for your continued support of LifeWalk!!! 1 The Miss LifeWalk pageant is presented by Guys and Dolls, a LifeWalk team. MISS LIFEWALK PAGEANT The title of Miss LifeWalk will be awarded to the contestant who accumulates the greatest total cumulative points in the following categories: Talent, Evening Wear and Fundraising. Certificates will be presented to the winner of each individual category. Each contestant shall receive full credit for their Individual Fundraising Total; such amount shall be credited toward their individual or team fundraising total for LifeWalk. See Section d below. a) Presentation: This is the first opportunity for each contestant to introduce themselves to the judges and the audience. Contestants should be prepared to introduce themselves and the team they represent, if any Each contestant is encouraged to show your LifeWalk Spirit!!! You may include your interpretation of what LifeWalk means to the community or to you personally; your team spirit or logo; or your message to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. This category is not scored or included in cumulative points for placement. b) Eveningwear – Each contestant shall provide a brief description of their gown to be read as the contestant models evening gown. Donations received by each contestant during presentation of evening gown will be included in their Fundraising score. See Section d below. c) Talent – Talent must be limited to a maximum of 5 minutes; an additional 2 minutes will be allowed for set up and tear down of any props. Each contestant must submit any music selection along with their completed application. Donations received by each contestant while performing talent will be included in their Fundraising score. See Section d below. d) Fundraising – Each contestant shall receive a Fundraising Score, based on dollar amount, including i) collected pledges submitted with their Application; ii) donations received during presentation of evening gown; and iii) donations received while performing talent. Each contestant shall be ranked in order from highest dollar amount (#1) to lowest dollar amount. All contestants are strongly encouraged to solicit donations prior to the date of Miss LifeWalk. Several contestants host their own events as part of their fundraising for Miss LifeWalk. e) Duties -Miss LifeWalk may be asked to make an appearance at other LifeWalk related events throughout the year leading up to LifeWalk. f) Rehearsal – All contestants are required to attend rehearsal at 11 am on Saturday July 19th, 2014 in the Rose Room. All contestants are required to register and turn in their applications at this time. The lineup of contestants will be determined at this time. There will be a brief rehearsal of the opening number and contestant presentation. All contestants are encouraged to turn in all donations with Application at rehearsal. g) Beneficiary. AIDS Arms, Inc. assists individuals in assessing the health care, resources and support necessary to successfully manage the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS. AIDS Arms LifeWalk is a family-friendly 3.1 mile walk that raises much needed funds for agencies supporting men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. Any individual may compete for the title of Miss LifeWalk. 2 2. All LifeWalk teams are encouraged to sponsor a contestant in the pageant. Teams motivate and challenge each other to raise their fundraising goals, contributing to the continued success of LifeWalk. Ultimately, we are one big LifeWalk team!! 3. All contestants must complete and submit the attached application prior to the pageant. Attendance will be taken at approximately 5:00 p.m on the date of the pageant. Applications will not be accepted after that time. By consensus, the judges may penalize any contestant arriving after roll call has been completed; such penalty may result in deduction of points or disqualification of such contestant. 4. The Miss LifeWalk pageant is an annual event benefitting AIDS Arms, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity organization. 5. Contestants are encouraged to collect pledges in advance of the pageant. Checks must be made out to AIDS Arms, Inc. All collected pledges should be turned in with your Application, including a print out of on-line donations. 6. All pledges and donations will be collected by an employee, agent or authorized representative of AIDS Arms, Inc. 7. Contestants will be allowed one dresser in the dressing room. Dressing room area is to be kept clean and used only by entertainers and contestants. If contestants have backup dancers for their talent, they will be allowed in the dressing room for costume change two numbers before the contestant is called on stage. 8. Each contestant must submit any music selection along with their completed application. 9. Use of fire or flammable or wet products are NOT permitted on stage, and is grounds for immediate disqualification. 10. All entertainers and contestants must be 21 years of age or older and must prepared to show a valid ID. 11. AIDS Arms, Inc., Guys and Dolls, and/or The Rose Room are NOT responsible for lost, stolen, or broken personal items. 12. All entertainers and contestants must abide by TABC rules and regulations. TABC rules and regulations are posted on line at http://www.tabc.state.tx.us 13. The reigning Miss LifeWalk is expected to participate in the pageant the following year to pass the title to the winning contestant. Miss LifeWalk is encouraged to participate in i) the Alan Ross Freedom Parade following receipt of title; and and ii) perform at the pageant successive years.
