Four representatives of the Tupper Lake Central School District
attended a weekend conference on the new Core Knowledge programand Monday during a district staff development day they shared what
they learned with other teachers here.
The Core Knowledge curriculum which embraces in its subject
material a wide range of cultural and international topics designed to
broaden students' understanding of the world was adopted in this
district late last year after Board Member Bob Bierwirth, Elementary
Principal Mary Sparks and several teachers attended a national
conference in Boston.
This year Mrs. Sparks and teachers Karen Harriman, Pam Shaw
and Tracy Klossner attended the annual conference in Nashville,

Saint Peter stood at the
pearly gate,
With his scoreboard in his
hand,
Checking off each new
person
Who had departed from this
land.
There were people from
many places
And from every walk of life,
Who had done so many kind
things
for those who had known
strife.
He put his hand out and
stopped one
and touched the pin upon
their shirt
And he knew from the
insignia
That they worked with those
who hurt.
"I see you worked with
hospice.
There were times when it
was hard
And because of those you
comforted.
You have a special place
with God."
