Butts’ LP Oct. 3-7 Monday OBJ ARPK TIP ISTE Standards: 7.3.R.4, literary devices, Figurative language: Hyperbole, metaphor, personification, simile, alliteration, onomatopoeia Students will take a pretest over the above mentioned devices. What is a Hyperbole, metaphor, personification alliteration, onomatopoeia and simile. Teacher will give a pretest over literary devices, Hyperbole, metaphor alliteration, onomatopoeia and simile. Students will grade their own quiz. Teacher will read the Giver. SAP ISS Tuesday OBJ ARPK TIP Students will be able to recognize these devices when they see them in text. ISTE Standards: 7.3.R.4, literary devices; figurative language; Hyperbole, metaphor simile, personification alliteration, onomatopoeia Students will learn the different literary devices. What are Metaphors and Similes? Teacher will give examples of each device on the smart board, students will do a short worksheet over metaphors and similes. Teacher will read The Giver. SAP ISS Wednesday OBJ Students will be able to recognize the literary devices in text. ISTE Standards: 7.3.R.4, literary devices; figurative language; Hyperbole, metaphor simile, personification alliteration, onomatopoeia Students will be taking the AR test over The Giver in the library and reading their AR books. ARPK TIP Teacher and students will be in the library to take a test over the Giver. Students will check out library books and read. SAP ISS Students will be able to score at least an 80 over the book test The Giver. Explain what each literary device is and give an example of each. Teacher will discuss the use of hyperbole and understatement and do a worksheet over them. SAP ISS Friday OBJ ARPK TIP Students will be able to recognize a hyperbole and an understatement. ISTE Standards: 7.3.R.4, literary devices; figurative language; Hyperbole, metaphor simile, personification alliteration, onomatopoeia Students will practice identifying personification, alliteration and onomatopoeia. Explain what each literary device is and give an example of each Teacher will give examples of personification, alliteration and onomatopoeia on the smart board. Students will do a worksheet over these. SAP ISS Students will be able to identify personification, alliteration and onomatopoeia in text.
