This event is open to 4-Hers and their friends from the mid-shore. The evening will feature science stations, activity stations, games, costume contest (optional), refreshments, and more. Cost is $5 per youth. Youth must be pre-registered and pre-paid by the deadline to participate. In an effort to help the Maryland Food Bank, please bring a non-perishable food item and receive a ticket for a special drawing. For more information, please see the attached flyer and registration. October 2-8: Every year, National 4-H Week is celebrated during the second week of October. Across the country, club members are encouraged to help other youth learn about the opportunities that 4-H provides for young people. Please consider making posters to display at your school, or in the community and tell others about 4-H. In addition, perform a community service project or think of an even better way to promote 4-H. Do not forget to thank your club leaders as they invest many hours to help you “make the best better” in your own 4-H work and efforts. Yard and Craft Sale: Saturday, Oct. 22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tables are for rent at $10 each. Clubs can have a table for free. Proceeds benefit the county 4-H program. The Maryland 4-H State Rifle Match was held on Saturday, September 10th - Congratulations to all of Caroline County’s participants - Robert Schmick, Dustin Saathoff and Timothy Parks! Best of luck to both the Archer’s 4-H Club members as they participate in the upcoming State 4-H archery match and to the Caroline County 4-H Shotgun Club as they compete in the State 4-H shotgun match. Congratulations to our Maryland State Fair participants! The following members entered numerous exhibits in the indoor divisions: Connor Cochran, Quinn Cochran, Jeremy Fisher, John Geisel, Matthew Good, Cory Hall, Ryan Hinkle, Kaleb, James, Kayla Miles, Elizabeth Moore, Gabrielle Parsley, Caroline Saathoff, Paul Saathoff, Nancy Smith, Jarrett Keys, Madison Weston, Logan Whitesell, Corey Wilt, Reilly McIntyre, Lanie McIntyre, and Taylor Moody. Gabrielle Parsley also participated in the State 4-H Fashion Revue! We also had a great group of Pure Country 4-H Club members represent us by showing their various livestock projects, to include: Matthew Good, Benjamin Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Caroline Saathoff and Paul Saathoff. Congratulations to all of our state fair participants for representing Caroline County and for all your hard work and efforts on your projects. WELL DONE! Record Books: Now that the Fair is over, don’t forget to keep working on your 2016 4-H record book. Make sure you record your accomplishments, experiences, and achievements. Members who still need 4-H record book information, covers, forms, etc. can email Missy at [email protected] for materials. If you need assistance, please let the office know. 2016 4-H Record Books will be due at the end of January 2017. Would you be interested in a Record Book (or Portfolio) Workshop? Please let Missy know so we can try to schedule something if there is interest! 4-H Club Officer Workshop: Dorchester County has invited Caroline County members to join their Club Officer Workshop on Friday, November 4th @ 6:30 pm. Meet at the Thendara 4-H Center in Hurlock, where dinner will be provided, to learn what exactly club officers do! Pre-registration is required; please e-mail Navonne Owen at [email protected] or call the Dorchester County Extension office at (410) 228-8800 to pre-register. Fall Fest: Martinak State Park, 137 Deep Shore Rd., Denton, will hold their annual fall celebration on Saturday, Oct. 22nd from noon until 4 p.m. This is another educational event that is worth your time and support, also stop by and visit our 4-H display! Regional 4-H Volunteer Forum Three regional 4-H volunteer trainings will take place on Saturday, November 19th. The Eastern Shore training will be at the Queen Anne’s County Extension Office . The 4-H Volunteer Forum is an event open to all 4-H volunteers to come together and participate in workshop tracks focused on building clubs, projects, membership, volunteer policies and procedures, resource building, and much more.
