Nassau County Industrial Development Agency The LEADS Program • Local Enterprise Assistance and Development Services • The program serves as a clearinghouse for all economic incentives, relief and programs available to small and mid-size businesses at the federal, state, county, and local levels. • The program creates a one-stop-shop for new and existing businesses, helping them navigate through the difficult waters of economic development and government regulation. Financial Assistance for Small Businesses • Provides direct financial assistance and economic development services to Nassau County’s small and mid-size business community; • Connects Nassau businesses with our economic development partners: New York State, LIPA, National Grid, S.B.A., and others; • Assists in relationship building across sectors. Sales and Use Tax Exemptions • Provides a sales tax exemption letter to qualifying small businesses that will assist them in purchasing furniture, fixtures and equipment and making capital improvements and renovations. • Savings of 8.625% (State, County, and MTA) on up to $1,140,000 in CAPX. Newsday Originally published: March 13, 2013 8:00 PM Sandy Business Recovery EcoDev First Responders • Dozens of business professionals volunteered in the weeks following Sandy and became “Economic Development First Responders”; • These “Economic Development First Responders” provided guidance in filling out various state, local and federal relief applications, and advocated for their businesses; • Nassau County helped create a free Law Clinic at Hofstra University Law School to assist businesses in transactional legal matters resulting from Sandy; • Nassau County provided up-to-the-minute info to businesses through a dedicated website: www.nassaubackinbusiness.org Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club • The Club provides novice and seasoned entrepreneurs with networking and brainstorming opportunities in a safe and secure environment; • With a primary goal of helping turn ideas into action, the Club provides assistance in all aspects of the inventing process and enable members to tap into critical resources; • Fueled by monthly guest speakers, the organization provides assistance to local inventors in each step of the innovation process.
