Each year WCCS has students
serving the Lord on missions trips.
This year Junior Molly Mason
went to Monroe, Wisconsin to
help a small church have a VBS
program. She attended with a
group of her friends from another
church which also included: Sophmores Hayden Moser and Bailey
Tackett, Freshman Brandon Herridge, and 2014 graduate Zach
Cowdery.
While in Wisconsin, the group also
helped fix little things around the
church, helped the church members in their homes and on their
farms, and sang to some elderly
people in the community.
Molly said that while she was on
the trip she got to talk to several
kids about Jesus. She said, “That
was very eye-opening for me,
because I have been raised my
whole life to love Jesus.” She
also said that she has made
some special connections with
the family with whom she
stayed and that she still keeps in
contact with them.
When asked if she would encourage other people to participate in mission trips, Molly said,
“Of course! I think mission trips
are a great way to push yourself
out of your comfort zone, and
stop thinking about yourself for
once. It’s also a way to be able to
put every- thing else on hold and
just let God show you what he can
do through you, the others working with you, and those you are
working for.”

Sharing the Love of Christmas
The Christmas program was a great success this year! The
students displayed their hard work by performing skits,
singing, and playing in the band. One of our new teacher’s,
Mr. Dubbs, and voice teacher Mrs. Stevens, were the two
conductors of the high school choral group that worked
very hard to make sure the choir was ready for their performance of “Carol of the Bells” and “Joy to the World.”.
The fourth, fifth, and sixth grade presented musical selections “No Ordinary Night” and a “Go Tell It on the Mountain/Joy to the World” medley intertwined with a narration of Jesus’ birth.
First, Second, and Third grade did an outstanding job singing “Listen to the Story,” “Happy Birthday, Jesus” (soloist
River Wilson), and “O Come All Ye Faithful/ Away in a
Manger” medley. The Kindergarten and K4 used their animal props in singing, “Baby Jesus, We Love You” and recited a poem about Jesus’ birth.

Douglas Ernest (Joseph), Heather Lord (Mary), Josh Stevens (Gabriel), and Hayden Moser (innkeeper). The hig
school students were joined by elementary students:
Rowyn Wharton, Talise Biliter, Sophia Thibault, Lauren
Harbison, Aubrey Simms, Keira Williams, Jonah Barnhart,
Grady Spencer, and Camryn Yoho to present the true story
of Christmas and God’s great gift of love to us all. The
high school choir completed the evening with “Angels’
Gloria” and “He Made a Way in a Manger.”
A lot of thanks to the students who worked and participated, and the staff who helped in preparation for the Christmas program. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Students seem excited to have the
new storage for books and backpacks. Jessie Powell likes the new
lockers because there is more room
in them, all of the latches work,
and they are shorter. Molly Mason
likes that they are easy to open and
that they all match. Evan Pugh
likes that the lockers are shorter,

At the beginning of the season,
it became evident that there
was serious need for more varsity girl basketball players. With
only four returning players
(senior Rachel Ruble, juniors
Hannah and Heather Lord, and
sophomore Sarah Barnes), how
was coach Dave Weekley going
to form a team? Thankfully,
several more girls soon stepped
up to the task; senior Demichelle Krupinski, sophomore
Abby Blauser, and freshmen

The varsity boys’ basketball
team started out their season
with a 67-19 victory against
Ashland at the annual Kingsway Tournament. They ended
up placing second in the tournament. The Wildcats then
continued into the season and
have won 11 total games, leaving their record so far at 11-5.
and sophomore DJ Spencer.
Though these boys have been
big contributors to the team so
far, almost everyone on the
team has contributed points in
at least one game. Other varsity players include juniors Joshua Stevens and Josh Morris,
sophomore Hayden Moser,
and freshman Luke Spencer.
What is the secret to the Wildcats’ success so far? They answer lies in the hard-working,
dedicated athletes, and of
course, the time and instruction given by Coach Ellis, Coach
Morris, and Coach Spencer.
The regular starters this season
are seniors Joseph Krupinski,
Douglas Ernest, and Logan

So far the girls have kept a fantastic record, with 12 wins and
only 3 losses, proving that a
great team is formed by quality, not quantity.
Come out and support these
hard-working, dedicated girls
as they finish the season and in
the upcoming WVCAT tournament. Is that a championship

Middle School
Coaches: Keys
to Success
by: Josh Stevens
The middleschool basketball
coaches are often the unsung heroes of
the sports program at WCCS. These men
teach and prepare the upcoming basketball players, preparing them for eventual
play on the varsity teams. Who are these
dedicated men? Boy’s coaches: Steve
Napier, Tye Davis, and Jason Dougherty;
and girl’s coaches: Doug Rawley, and Jim
Ashley.
of Coach Ashley, having a e-year stretch
with 31 straight wins!Throughout the
years, these two godly men have never
lost their passion for the game and have
found success every year they step on the
court.
As Coach Ashley summed it up,
“the true value in team sports is being
able to win or lose with good Christian
character.” We are thankful to have
coaches teaching our players to do just
that.
The middle school boys have an
impressive record this season, and a large
part of that has to do with their
coaching staff. Coach Davis, Coach
Napier, and Coach Dougherty are
relatively new to the program, but
they’ve already left their mark.
Success in basketball is not
the main thing these coaches want to
achieve, though. They ultimately
want to coach their players in godliness and good attitudes, things that
are very important in the life of an
athlete in a Christian school. We appreciate these coaches and their contribution
to this school.

The varsity cheerleaders have been
putting in lots of time and hard work
this season. Cheering for the boys at
varsity games is just one of the many
things the cheerleaders have been
doing. They have also been practicing
whenever and wherever possible,
writing new cheers, choreographing
new routines, nailing new stunts, and
perfecting their WVCAT competition
cheer. The cheerleaders also hosted
powderpuff soccer with boys volleyball
and a bake sale at Sam’s club as fundraisers.

The varsity cheerleading squad consists of 9 girls this year, including: juniors Hannah Newhart, Lauren Nulter,
and Jaymie Ferrebee, sophomore Morgan Simmons, and freshmen Alivia
Moser, Sydney Lewis, Allison Mendoza, Bailey Jackson, and Madelyn Goff,
along with varsity cheer coach Lori
Spencer.
The Wildcats appreciate all of the hard
work and dedication these girls have
had as they support the varsity boys all
season long. So, cheer along and come
out and support the cheerleaders at
the games and the WVCAT competition this year. They won’t disappoint!
