Frankfort Sunflower Festival Ambassador
The Frankfort Sunflower Festival invites you to apply for the Ambassador Program. We are looking for
committed, talented, energetic individuals who have a true passion for the Village of Frankfort and The
Frankfort Sunflower Festival. The festival, a not-for-profit organization is dedicated to promoting the
history and refining the beauty of Frankfort and the community through programs, events, and educational
initiatives that enhance our environment, showcase the history our town and build community spirit.
OVERVIEW
The Frankfort Sunflower Festival Ambassador is an opportunity for a male or female between the ages of
16 and 19 who will represent and promote the festival as well as educate others on the signifigance of
Frankfort. The intent of this $750.00 scholarship program is to support the growth and development of a
young person by helping to instill skills that will be invaluable throughout his or her life.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND TIME COMMITTMENT
The experience of a Sunflower Ambassador is a rewarding and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Prior to
applying, interested individuals should consider his or her availability to commit a significant amount of
time to this position. During the year the ambassador should plan to attend festival committee meetings as
his or her work and class schedule permits. During the festival the ambassador will be expected to
participate in the following events:

 The Parade
 Opening Ceremony
 Baby Contest
 Princess Contest
 Pie Auction
 Car Show
 Kiddie Tractor Pull
 Corn Hole Tournament Awards
Ideally the ambassador will participate in as many local festivals and events as his or her schedule allows.
It is the Frankfort Sunflower Committee’s expectation to have our festival represented by the ambassador
at the following specific festivals:

o Festival of the Bells – July 2-4, 2015
o Greene Countrie Towne Festival – July 17-19, 2015
o West Jefferson Ox Roast – Sept. 4-7, 2015
o Salt Creek Valley Festival – Sept. 11-13, 2015

APPLICATION/QUALIFICATION PROCESS
To become The Frankfort Sunflower Ambassador, applicants must submit the below outlined application
requirements by the deadline. After an initial review, individuals will be selected for an in-person
interview with the The Frankfort Sunflower Ambassador Committee.
A. Candidate Requirements
 Age range: 16-19
 Reside in the Frankfort area.
B. Application Requirements
A. The completed application form (available for download on the Festival website).
B. Submit a 500 word typed essay from one three questions listed below. The essay must be in 12
point font, Times New Roman. Please include your name on every page of your application.
C. A resume with your educational and professional background, leadership positions,
awards/honors, participation in clubs/organizations and other special interests.
D. One current photograph
E. One letter of recommendation from a teacher or employer- Recommendation letter MUST be
received by July 1st, 2015 to one of the below locations.
Questions for essay:
1. What is your motivation for applying for the Sunflower Festival’s Ambassador program?
More specifically, please include how participating in the program and festival will enable
you to pursue personal or professional goals, or contribute to the festival.
2. How do your skills and personality make you an ideal representative for the festival in
public settings, and for working with your peers to coordinate schedules and lead hands-on
activities during the festival?
3. What does the living in the Frankfort area mean to you?
