They sold landscaping equipment.
But they still needed help
dealing with their own growth.
Russo Power was sprouting up all over the place. Or,
more correctly, places. Since beginning their business
34 years ago, they had become one of the largest
wholesale distributors of lawn and garden equipment,
with warehouses spread all around the Chicago area.
So when a former manufacturing plant became
available—one that was large enough to allow them
to consolidate some of those warehouses, along with
their wholesale showroom—they were eager to take
advantage. The old building had a lot of character,
with high glass transoms allowing in plenty of light.
But there was a problem. Some of that ‘character’
could also be seen on the floor.
“They used to manufacture drill presses and large vices
in here,” explained the owner of Russo Power,
Tony Russo. “You can imagine what kind of damage
that did.”
filling in cracks and holes and using diamond grinders
to level out damaged areas, it was on to the aesthetic
part of the job: installing a decorative quartz floor.
The concrete was badly chipped and pitted in many
areas, with oil splotches everywhere. And remember,
this is a company that appreciates well-tended
grounds—inside or out. “We have a certain image we
need to present to our customers,” Tony added.
Concare used Garland Floor’s Spectra-Cast flooring
system. Following Garland Floor’s Chemi-Cote® EPHB-CR,
two coats of Chemi-Cote high build epoxy were applied.
Finally, to top it off, two clear topcoats of Chemi-Cote
EPHB-RY finished the job.
To get a showroom quality finish without having to
rip up the concrete that was still functional, they
turned to Concare, Inc., of Melrose Park, IL. After
The result was a stunning multi-colored showroom floor.
The various hues helped make it look cleaner while
ceramic granules provided more impact resistance and
enhanced traction when wet.
But that wasn’t all.
“We wanted all twenty of our manufacturer’s
logos in the floor,” Tony said, “and we
got it.”
Concare installed the logos under a thick
see-through topcoat. And today, Russo
Powers’ “Walk of Fame” along with the
dressy new look throughout is a big hit
with their customers.
