created between moving parts.
A child’s or person’s limb, or a pet
can become entrapped at these
locations. During use, and when
base is in the raised position, always
keep the pinch points clear, and keep
all limbs on top of the power base.
Failure to follow this warning could
result in serious injury or death.

DANGER
To reduce the risk of electric shock, always unplug hardware from the electrical
outlet before cleaning. Keep cords and wires away from heated surfaces. Do not
use outdoors.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1
Be sure you only use an electrical outlet with an AC supply current circuit of
110‑120 volts when plugging in the Main Control Unit (MCU) and power base,
and 110‑240 volts for plugging in the HUB.
2 Do not use with an extension or damaged cords. The use of a power surge
device is recommended. Do not remove, trap, fold, cross or pinch any wires
or cords.
3 The MCU, HUB and power base should be placed on a dry, firm floor, in a
well‑ventilated area, free from surrounding fabric. Leave clearance of at least
1 foot on all sides of the MCU.
4 Do not use the temperature, massage or elevation features of this bed
with an infant, a child, an incapacitated person, a paraplegic, a quadriplegic,
or someone insensitive to heat, coolness, or vibration. Individuals with
heart‑assist pacemakers may experience a sensation similar to exercise
when the elevation or massage feature(s) is active. Consult a physician
for complete information.
5 Immediately dispose of packaging material as it can smother small children
and pets. To avoid injury, children or pets should not be allowed to play
under or on the power base, with Atmos™ hardware, components or
electrical cords. Children should not operate the Atmos™ without adult
supervision.
6 This Atmos™ is designed for in‑home use only. It is not approved for hospital
use and does not comply with hospital standards. Do not use with tent type
oxygen therapy equipment, or use near explosive gases.
6

7 Service technicians are not responsible for moving furniture, removing
headboards and footboards or any items required to perform maintenance.
In the event the technician is unable to perform service due to lack of
accessibility, the service call will be billed to the purchaser and the service
will need to be rescheduled.
8 The power base and components therein are designed to be maintenance
free. The lift motors are permanently lubricated and sealed — no additional
lubrication is required. Do not apply lubricant to lift motor lead screws or any
nylon nuts as it may cause the power base to inadvertently creep downward
from the elevated position.
9 The temperature, elevation and massage feature motors within the power
base are not designed for continuous use. Reliable operation and full life
expectancy will be realized as long as: lift motor operation does not exceed
5 minutes over a 45 minute period, or approximately 11% duty cycle; the
massage motor operation does not exceed 30 minutes at a time; and the
temperature feature is not active for more than 10 hours at a time or within
a 24‑hour period. Any attempt to circumvent or exceed product ratings will
shorten the life expectancy of the product and may void the warranty.
10 The recommended maximum weight for models with the elevation feature
is 850 lbs. (385 kg), including the mattress and distributed evenly across
the base. This product is not designed to support or lift this amount in the
head or foot sections alone. Note: Exceeding the recommended weight
restrictions could damage the power base and void the warranty.
11 For best performance, consumers should enter and exit the power base
when it is in the level, horizontal position. Avoid placing entire weight
on head or foot section of the power base, including when in the raised
position. DO NOT STAND ON POWER BASE AT ANY TIME.
12 The elevation feature has UL (Underwriters Laboratories) recognized
components and is CFR 1633 approved for use with most mattresses.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for
a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in
a residential environment. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate
radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However,
there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television
reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on,
the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of
the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that
to which the receiver is connected.
CAUTION: EXPOSURE TO RADIO FREQUENCY RADIATION
In order to minimize the potential of exceeding FCC radio frequency exposure
limit for human contact do not be in contact with the antenna while the
equipment is in operation.
Atmos™ conforms to UL Standard 962 test requirements.
• This system utilizes 110/220 V, 50/60Hz, 2A.

• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
In normal usage, the MCU, HUB and components installed in specified models
of the bed work together to control the motions and operation of the bed. There
will be a label on the HUB to show the FCC ID of the HUB. The label is readily
visible to the purchaser at the time of purchase. By the restrictions of the bed
frame and the fixed installation location of the HUB, the HUB is required to be
kept away from the users by a distance of more than 32mm.

Acoustics
2.1
Lifting/lowering mechanisms
The lift/lower feature will emit a minimal humming sound during operation.
This is normal.
2
10
ATMOS - USER GUIDE
MAT11703 ATMOS_User Guide_Print-Edit_V2.indd 10-11
During operation, the lift arm wheels make contact with the platform support
of the base. This applies slight tension on the moving components and
resonance is reduced to a minimum level. If excessive noise or vibration is
experienced, reverse the movement action (up or down) of the base with the
remote control. This should realign the base’s activating mechanisms to the
proper operational position.
2.2
Location environment
The level of sound experienced during operation is directly related to the
location environment. For example, when a base is located on a hardwood
floor with the massage feature in operation, a vibrating tone will be audible.
To minimize this resonance, place a piece of carpet, or rubber caster cups,
under each leg of the base.

SET UP THE POWER BASE SLEEP SYSTEM
1
Choose the location.
• It is not recommended that an Atmos™ Climate Control Sleep System be
placed in direct sunlight. This can cause the mattress to store heat and
minimize the climate control performance. The Atmos™ mattress and
power base, as well as the MCU and HUB must not be placed in an area
that may become damp or wet, such as an open window. The Atmos™
continuously monitors room humidity and if levels are above normal, it
is programmed to reduce performance to ensure condensation does
not occur, in which case, the heating or cooling icon will blink repeatedly.
Normal climate control function will resume when humidity levels drop.

ATMOS - USER GUIDE
MAT11703 ATMOS_User Guide_Print-Edit_V2.indd 42-43
To function properly, your Atmos™ mattress requires optimal air flow, unhindered
by surface linens.
• It is not recommended to use a mattress pad. It can block air flow.
• If using a bed skirt, you must cut precise holes in it for the plastic tubes
to pass through.
• A dust ruffle must have at least 2 inches of clearance from the floor.
PRECAUTIONS
When changing sheets, it is possible that mattress corners lift and dislodge the
plastic air tubes placed between the power base and the mattress. To be sure
tubes are properly positioned, gently lift one corner of the mattress at a time to
confirm the fit is snug and tubes are secure. The mattress should lie flat and all
edges align perfectly.

Cleaning
6.3
Transporting the bed
To keep your mattress clean, vacuum frequently or sweep lightly with a
non‑metallic stiff bristle brush to remove dust and grime.
Whether you’re moving your household belongings yourself or hiring an
expert, the Atmos™ requires special handling and careful consideration during
disassembly and transport.
When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material. Clean spots
or stains from the outside to the middle of the affected area to prevent circling.
Use a professional furniture cleaning service when an overall soiled condition
is apparent.
Spot clean when necessary using a mild, water‑based shampoo or foam
upholstery cleaner. Pretest a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding.
Do not over wet. Do not use solvents to spot clean. Do not attempt to dry
clean, machine wash the cover or use hot water extraction or steam
cleaning methods.
1
Two people are required to handle the mattress at all times.
2 Remove the mattress by lifting it directly up and off the power base and rest
it on its side on the floor. Do not slide the mattress over the plastic tubes.
3 To release and remove the 4 tubes, locate the tab that holds each in place
at the power base, and gently depress the tab using a flat‑head screwdriver.
Place these in a safe location; they are essential when re‑assembling the bed.
4 Unplug the wires that connect the MCU and the HUB to the power base.
You may want to bundle or somehow contain the wires so that they are easy
to locate when re‑installing the bed.
5 Unplug the power cord connecting the power base to the surge protection
device and the power outlet.
6 Wrap the mattress and power base in a bag or other protective packaging
to prevent soiling.
7 Gather and package the cords, 2 remotes, 4 tubes, and the instruction
manual together for easy access.
8 To reassemble the Atmos™ at the new location, follow the instructions
in this manual under Installation.

Troubleshooting
8.1
Power base
My bed is making a lot of noise.
8
48
ATMOS - USER GUIDE
MAT11703 ATMOS_User Guide_Print-Edit_V2.indd 48-49
If the noise is not extreme, and the power base is placed on a hard surfaced
floor, trying laying carpet pieces or rubber caster cups under each leg.
Check that the power base’s leg extensions are tightened firmly.
If the noise has increased noticeably or appeared suddenly, the problem could
be a technical one. Start by verifying that the power base isn’t positioned
against a wall, nightstand, or other object that may cause vibration or noise.
Make sure there is nothing under the power base that could cause noise
during operation.
If this is not the case, the problem could be mechanical. Start by isolating which
function is producing the noise. To do so, turn the system off at the Main Control
Unit. Wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. Using your remote, test one function
at a time by activating it and listening for the noise. Be sure to disengage one
function before proceeding to the next. If you require our technical assistance,
call customer support service at 1 800-888-3087.
The head of the bed is elevated and won’t return to the flat position.
First, make sure the head of the bed isn’t too close to the wall. The base may
be obstructed by a sheet or other object that has dropped between the power
base and the mattress. Lift the mattress gently, being careful not to bend it, and
check for an obstruction, and if possible remove the obstruction.
The elevation feature is stuck due to a power outage.
1
Unplug the power base from the power outlet.
2 Locate the power down box and install 2 9‑volt batteries (not included).
Gently press in and push down on the battery compartment door
to remove it.

3 Unplug the electrical feed cord from the power console and plug it into the
power down box.
4 Wait 10 seconds, then press the FLAT button on the remote control until the
base is in the level position.
5 Remove the batteries from power down box.
6 Plug the power cord back into the console. Once power is restored, you can
resume normal elevation operation.
The elevation remote control appears to be on and lights are working,
but the power base isn’t responding.
1
Make sure the power cord is plugged into a working, grounded electrical
outlet.
2 Test the outlet by plugging in another appliance you know works.
We recommend that you use a surge protection device.
The power base is not responding to commands from the remote.
1
Follow the steps to program the remote control on page 37.
2 The problem could be electrical. Unplug the power cord from the outlet,
wait 30 seconds and plug it back in to reset electronic components.
2 Make sure the power base is not positioned against a wall, nightstand, or
other object that can cause vibration or noise. If it rests in a bed frame, see if
the massage motors are causing the bed frame or its components to vibrate.
3 If the power base is set up on hard surface flooring, place carpet pieces
or rubber caster cups under each leg.
If your power base becomes inoperable or you would like to request in home
service, please contact:

3 Check if the surge protection device or electrical outlet is defective by
plugging in another working appliance. Also, the circuit breaker may be
tripped. Check electrical service breaker box to verify.
The remote control will not light up.
The head or foot section of the bed rises, but will not return to the FLAT position.
The remote does not work.
Elevate the power base and check if there is an object obstructing the
mechanisms, and if so, remove it gently. Also, ensure the head of the bed is not
too close to the wall.
1
There is excessive motor noise when the massage feature is active.
3 The remote may need to reconfigure. Replace batteries and re‑link to the

4 If a fault code appears onscreen, write it down and unplug the power cord
for 30 seconds. Plug in to reset electronic components and power to the
MCU and the HUB.
5 Check to see if one of the tubes between the mattress and the power base
has become dislodged by carefully lifting one corner of the mattress at
a time, and scanning visually.
6 Check to see if there are any obstructions between the outlets and within
power base mechanisms.
7 If your problem is not resolved please contact Mattress Firm customer
service at 1 888‑712‑8667 to set up in home technical support.
The bed isn’t working and a code appears onscreen.
The MCU and the HUB are designed with a set of pre‑programmed fault codes
to help identify causes of operational issues.
1
If a fault code appears on the MCU or HUB screen, write it down.
2 Turn the MCU off using the main power switch located at its back.
Wait 30 seconds, turn the main power switch back to the on position.

or a new fault code appears, check that all connection are secure and
repeat steps 1 to 3.
Heating or cooling performance on one or both sides of the bed seems weak
or unevenly distributed.
1
Check to see if one of the tubes between the mattress and the power base
has become dislodged by carefully lifting one corner of the mattress at
a time, and scanning visually.
2 Verify that the MCU is located in a well‑ventilated, dry location.
3 Ensure there are no obstructions under the bed limiting inlet airflow.
4 If using a dust cover, be sure that holes have been cut in the surface covering
the tube holes to allow for air flow. See page 45 to learn how to modify
a bed skirt.
5 Verify that there are 2 inches of clearance under the bed and that no items
are stored there.
6 Be sure you are using an approved mattress cover. Using a waterproof or
non‑breathable cover will obstruct air flow.
7 Ensure that there are no obstructions between the outlet of the fan at the
tube and the underside of the mattress.
8 Check to see if COOL icon on the MCU screen is blinking. If so, your system
is operating in HUMIDITY MODE with reduced performance. This is a preset
function that ensures condensation from excessive humidity levels does
not damage the system. Reduce humidity levels to restore full capacity
operation.

1 YEAR, 3 YEAR AND 20 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
In this warranty: “Adjustable base” and “Power base” means the adjustable base foundation sold by
L&P to the dealer. The “adjustable base” does not include the mattress. “L&P” means Leggett & Platt,
Incorporated. “Purchaser” and “You” both mean the consumer who is the original purchaser of this
adjustable base made by L&P. This warranty is not transferable. “Warranty Commencement Date” means
either (i) the date You purchased a new and unused L&P adjustable base or (ii) the date of manufacture
of this adjustable base if You purchased an L&P adjustable base that has been used as floor or display
model. L&P warrants this adjustable base to You on the terms and over the reducing periods of time set
out below. All warranty claims require notice from You to be given to L&P in the manner set out below,
and to be received by L&P inside the applicable warranty time period.
1ST YEAR FULL WARRANTY
For the first year from the Warranty Commencement Date, your adjustable base is warranted against
non‑excluded defects in L&P’s workmanship or materials. During the first year from the Warranty
Commencement Date, L&P will repair or replace (at no cost to You) any defective adjustable base part,
and L&P will pay all authorized labor and transportation costs associated with the repair or replacement
of any parts found to be defective.
2ND & 3RD YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
During the second and third year from the Warranty Commencement Date, L&P will replace any
adjustable base part found to be defective and not excluded by this warranty. You are responsible to pay
all service and transportation costs related to the costs of receiving and installation of the new part.
4TH YEAR TO END OF 20TH YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
Starting in the fourth year from the Warranty Commencement Date and through to the end of the 20th
year from the Warranty Commencement Date, L&P will replace steel and mechanical base parts found to
be defective and not excluded by this warranty. This warranty does not cover any electronics, electrical
components, drive motors or massage motors. You are responsible to pay all service and transportation
costs related to receiving and installation of the new part and a portion of the cost of the replacement
steel and mechanical part, based on the number of months that the base has been owned by you
since the fourth anniversary of the Warranty Commencement Date. By the end of the 20th year, no
portion of the replacement cost is covered by L&P. You will be required to pay 1/17th of the then current
replacement cost of the part multiplied by the number of years past the third year from the Warranty

Commencement Date. This portion is calculated using the following formula: Cost of the part divided
by 17 [being the number of years in years 4 to 20 inclusive], multiplied by the number of years you have
owned the base since the end of the first 3 years. For example, if you make a claim for a part eligible for
this warranty in the 5th year since the Warranty Commencement Date, you would be responsible for
paying: $100 part cost divided by 17, multiplied by 2 = $11.76.
ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This warranty requires notice to be given to L&P of any claim for repairs or replacement parts.
EXCLUSIONS:
This warranty does not apply; (a) to any damage caused by You; (b) if there has been any repair or
replacement of adjustable base parts by an unauthorized person; (c) if the adjustable base has been
mishandled (whether in transit or by other means), subjected to physical or electrical abuse or misuse, or
otherwise operated in any manner inconsistent with the operation and maintenance procedures outlined
in the Owner’s Manual and this warranty; (d) to damage to mattresses, fabric, cables, electrical cords or
