To coincide with the Rugby World Cup, the
WTRA is encouraging the public to host
their own table rugby tournaments in
order to raise money for the UKSCF, a
charity whose aim is to help the body
overcome illness and injury through
research into stem cell technology
and therapy.
The UK Stem Cell Foundation was set
up in 2005 to speed up the progress
of promising stem cell research and
technology into treatments and therapies
for patients. It is the only UK charity to
focus specifically on stem cell research
as a potential treatment for a wide range
of conditions and diseases.
However, the work of these experts is
being hindered due to a lack of funding,
preventing their early stage research
from reaching clinical trial.

Through a combination of fundraising,
collaboration with others and co-funding,
the Foundation aims to advance the most
promising research projects that have the
greatest potential to deliver patient
benefits ideally within a five-year period.
