SOCIAL MEDIA PROCEDURE

Purpose: Procedure for the use of the Social Media information.
Craven Community College utilizes the following sites as part of its business practices:
Twitter – The College maintains an official twitter account under the name “cravencc” that is updated with breaking
news, events and other important messages by the College Public Information Officer as needed.
Facebook – The College maintains an official Facebook page located at http://www.facebook.com/cravencc which
contains official college news and events, both business and social. The Facebook page is primarily updated by the
Public Information Officer and by authorized persons.
Any of the above sites can be considered official sources of information for the College.
Those individuals or groups who want a social networking presence should complete the Social Media
Administrator Agreement and send to the Website Administrator.
Those who have posting privileges should to keep the following in mind:

Before posting anything to a social networking site, be certain that the content is appropriate for public viewing.
All comments or posts made to the College’s walls or pages are public, not private. Prior approval is required
before posting official statements on Craven social networking sites.

Site administrators should check content on a regular basis to ensure appropriateness and accuracy.
•
Account administrators who receive messages through the private message service offered by some social
media sites should encourage users to contact them at a public e-mail address maintained by their organization.
For private messages that account administrators do receive, they should be treated as constituent e-mails and,
therefore, as public records. Account administrators or other authorized staff members should reply using their
Craven GroupWise e-mail accounts.

All privacy settings are set to public.
•
Be respectful, professional and accurate when posting comments to official Craven sites.
