He won’t go because he has ambitions at work that depend on the memo he’s writing. -As he closes the door behind his wife, the most important paper flies out the window of his 11th story window. 1. 2 3 4 1 2 Rising Action: -he sees that the paper is wedged in the corner of the building -he tries to knock it loose, but can’t -he decides to go get it -moves mechanically and gets the paper, but then he looks down and almost falls. -he struggles with thoughts of falling -he reaches the window and nearly falls -the window closes and he falls to his knees -he tries breaking the window with his hand, coins, and his shoe -he tries to signal people with burning papers and dropping coins -he realizes his wife has only been gone for eight minutes and will not be home for hours -he realizes his priorities have been wrong 31. -he punches the window to break it, knowing that if he can’t, he will fall 3 4 1 2 Climax: 4 1. 3 4 1 2 Resolution: -he grabs the curtains, removes the glass from around the window, and climbs into his apartment -he places the yellow paper on the desk with a pencil on top of it -he grabs his coat and hat and goes to the door to meet his wife at the movie -as he closes the door on his way out, the rush of air knocks the pencil aside and blows the yellow paper out the window Quick Check 1. 2.
