Join us for a weekend of events celebrating the life and legacy of
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The 2017 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration is presented by the Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. Westside Coalition and is sponsored by the City of Santa Monica,
SGI-USA, Santa Monica College, Santa Monica College Associates, Rand Corporation,
City TV and other individuals, organizations and corporate contributors.
Monday, January 16, 2017– 9:00 am to 10:30 am
32nd Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
Keynote speaker Dr. Kathryn E. Jeffery
PhD, Superintendent and President of Santa Monica College (SMC).
Dr. Kathryn Jeffery brings over three decades of education experience to SMC as a former professor, counselor and administrator. She
is a passionate advocate for higher education focusing on a student
centered approach to leadership and decision-making. Dr. Jeffery is
also a talented classical musician having obtained a Bachelor of Music
Education at Oklahoma State University with a major in piano and a
minor in voice.
