DONALD H. MORRISON – Biography Chief Executive Officer, Morrison Global: Accelerating Global Growth Don Morrison is Chief Executive Officer of Morrison Global, a firm that provides executives with the means to accelerate corporate globalization and growth. Don works with companies seeking to establish or accelerate their growth in both domestic and international markets. Everyone talks about growth, but few have the operational experience and results that Don has achieved over a 40-­‐year span. Don’s differentiated ability is to bring all of the factors that contribute to a company’s growth into an aligned and integrated management system that moves from strategy to goal setting to tactical execution and achievement. This is typically executed in a highly energized and positive work environment. Don is the retired Chief Operating Officer of BlackBerry/Research In Motion. With an award-­‐winning global expansion track record, he was invited to become Chair of the Ontario Global 100 Network, established to accelerate the global growth of Ontario’s 100 most promising companies. At BlackBerry, Don expanded a world-­‐class business from 2 countries to 175 countries over an 11-­‐year period, increasing annual fiscal revenues from $70 million to more than $20 billion. Prior to RIM, Don undertook a number of senior leadership positions in Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East with AT&T and Bell Canada. He was the President of Consumer and Small Business for AT&T Canada and prior to that, Group Vice President of Consumer and Small Business for Bell Canada. From 1990 to 1994, Don and his family were located in Belgium where he assumed the role of Regional Vice President for AT&T’s global services business for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In the late 1980’s, he was a lobbyist in Washington and represented AT&T’s trade interests for Europe to the U.S. Congress and Administration and Defense community. Since 2011, Don has been actively involved in the practical application of individual and organizational transformation for the purpose of accelerating personal and organizational growth. Through Don’s work at The Mind and Life Institute (previous Board member), The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values (currently Chair of the Board), The Thomas Merton Institute (Founder and Chair) and his own initiative, “The Compassion Project”, he has sought to explore the means by which a process of inner transformation can lead to a person leading a more effective, fulfilling and meaningful life. This path has led Don in places that are less conventional than the typical leadership development path typically found in traditional educational institutions. Don frequently speaks on this area of meaning, purpose and personal development in many countries around the world. In addition, Don is involved in many philanthropic endeavours through his Family Foundation. Most particularly, Don has supported the global success of We Day and Free The Children In North America, Kenya and India. Don is also on the Board of The MasterCard Foundation and Yellow Media. Don holds an MBA and BA from The University of Toronto and was President of the graduating class of The Executive Program at The University of Virginia, Darden Business School in 1988.
