Welcome to the 2017 Mile High Classic Sale!
The excitement for a new year and the future that lies before the Red Angus breed makes
January and the National Western Stock Show a particularly exciting event. With the growth
of the Red Angus breed comes new opportunity to meet new cattlemen and women across
the country and have new innovative ideas when it comes to breeding and combining Red
Angus genetics. The growth and popularity of the breed has certainly put great genetics in
hot demand even during a down-turn in the commercial cattle prices. In down markets, it is
even more important to breed and propagate top genetics. The Mile High Classic has become
the “Grand Daddy Of ‘Em All” because of the quality of genetics offered. In Denver, you have
many choices in which to purchase genetics. Why not come to the original single auction that
started it all for the Red Angus breed at the National Western Stock Show – the Mile High
Classic.
The management and philosophy of the Mile High goes hand in hand with the National
Association’s core policies and we strive to provide you with “real world” genetics that you can
take home and put into a production program. Over 60 years ago, founding Red Angus
member and first President Waldo Forbes stated: “The policy of the Red Angus Association is
to discourage the more artificial practices in purebred cattle production, and to place its faith
instead in objective test, consisting for the most part of comparisons within herds of factors
of known economic importance and known heritability. By making it an integral part of the
registration system, the Red Angus breeders feel that even faster progress can be made
toward the ultimate goal of more efficient beef production”. We feel this philosophy is the
bases for the success of the breed and has allowed Red Angus purebred breeders to supply
cattle to the commercial producers that fit “real world” beef production. The Mile High crew
has been involved in the beef industry, both purebred and commercial, for multiple
generations and understand the business from pasture to plate. We have dedicated countless
hours identifying top genetics from a production standpoint to bring to you in this auction
and believe investment in these genetics will put “real dollars” in your pocket.

In the Mile High Classic Auction last year, our featured #1 Lot was an
incredible “Real World” Red Angus cow that exemplified production and a
“proof of progeny” history that resulted in a $54,000 sale for Royce McPheeBayha of California to first time Red Angus buyers, Ted Linthicum and his
sister Cheryl Linthicum of Oklahoma. Our hats are off to both buyer and
seller for choosing the Mile High Classic as a venue to come together for the
transaction on this amazing Red Angus female.
Following suit, this year’s Grand Daddy of ‘Em All Lot #1 represents another
truly “Real World” Red Angus cow with fertility and a production record
second to none. As a young prime-of-her-life cow, she has already produced a
daughter that qualified and sold in the prestigious Fort Worth Red Angus
Showcase at the 2015 FWSS and has two daughters represented in this year’s
Mile High Classic as Lots 2 and 3. Her fertility is astounding with four
conventional flushes at Trans Ova Genetics in Chillicothe, Missouri yielding
76 freezable embryos (63 grade #1’s and 13 grade #2’s).
With 13 EPDs in the top 25% of the breed (and 7 in the top 10%), you start to
get the picture that Windsong 111 is a one-of-a-kind Donor Female.
Powerfully deep ribbed, long bodied, and yet feminine fronted, this cow will
mate with any Red Angus bull in the breed and add power and substance. If

For the 2017 Mile High Classic Red Angus Auction we have pulled out all the stops here at Brylor! We implanted a large number of eggs in South Dakota
and the next five heifer calves that we are consigning were all produced here in the USA. 607D is a direct daughter of our very famous Olivia donor cow.
She has produced over 75 calves now in her career and has exceeded over $500,000 in live progeny, embryo and flush sales. Olivia 706P is now gone and
we have very few embryos left on her in the tank (4 to be exact)!!! There is a full ET sister to 607D selling here today in Lot ? (615D). Also, back in the
Brylor bull pen in Canada, a full ET brother (603D) is topping the test thus far. He weighed 1,050 lbs. on November 28, 2016! Sells with two straws of Red

$19,000 son to WRAZ and a $55,000 son to Jim Atkin. She also shows up in the Damar Oh Baby pedigree that just won Louisville. When I first saw 615D
in South Dakota this summer she struck me right away as that next great one out of our beloved old Olivia cow. The sire is off the market due to limited

We purchased Gloria 640A out of the Glesbar Dispersal last year to be the
cornerstone of our young Red Angus program!!! She is a daughter of the famous Six
Mile Gloria 746W (deceased) who was the 2011 National Grand Champion Red
Angus cow and out of Red CC Expansion making her a paternal sibling to Red
Towaw Indeed 104H. Her maternal brother, Smoking Gun, was the 2012 Reserve
National Grand Champion bull and her heifer calf by GLESBAR MERLOT 48A is
zipper fronted, deep bodied and walks like a cat. Having studied the success of the
Gloria pedigree and asking progressive breeders their opinion, we felt it would be a
great contribution to the breed to mate her to the 2 time Denver Champion Six Mile
Taurus, and WOW did she hit it big producing 28 #1 embryos. So it is with that in
mind that we are offering 3 embryos with the guarantee of 1 pregnancy if implanted
by a certified embryologist.
The sire, Buf Crk The Right Kind U199, took the breed by storm back in 2010 when
he topped the famed Buffalo Creek Red Angus bull sale, going to 5L Ranch,

T E RMS: Terms of the sale are cash, check, or other terms agreed to in
writing between seller, buyer, and sale manager payable immediately upon
conclusion of the sale before animals will be moved. Sale Manager reserves
the right to require a certified check as settlement before releasing any
cattle.
P URCH ASE R’ S RISK: All animals are the owner’s risk prior to their sale
and become property of the purchaser as soon as declared sold by the
auctioneer.
B ID DING : Any disputes or challenges regarding bids or tie bids will be
settled by the auctioneer and his decision will be final.
C ERTIF ICAT E O F RE G ISTRY: A certificate of registry for each animal
will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense.
A NNO UNC E ME NT S: Any errors or changes in information contained in
the catalog will be announced from the block and such announcements
shall take precedence over the information contained herein.
HE A LT H: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment. Interstate health
papers prepared by an accredited veterinarian will be furnished on each
animal sold. Arrangements for international shipment should be made
with the sale manager prior to the auction. All efforts for the exportation
of cattle can be arranged through the sale manager.

“The decision to form an association was based on the feeling among the breeders that there should be a herd book for
these animals in order to perpetuate Red Angus as a useful breed of cattle. The members also felt that there was an
opportunity with a relatively small group such as this to incorporate into the structure of the association itself, rules and
standards for the selection and registration which would accelerate the improvement of the breed by taking advantage of
some of the more recent advances in animal breeding research.
In general then, the policy of the [Red Angus] Association is to discourage the more artificial practices in purebred cattle
production, and to place its faith instead in objective test, consisting for the most part of comparisons within herds of
factors of known economic importance and known heritability. By making it an integral part of the registration system,
the Red Angus breeders feel that even faster progress can be made toward the ultimate goal of more efficient beef
production.”

1) It is the RAAA’s primary role to create an environment that promotes the financial stability of its members.
2) The RAAA supports the development and use of membership-driven strategic planning.
3) The RAAA creates marketing tools for commercial bull customers, creating more demand for Red Angus and Red Angusinfluence genetics.

content has a commercial and technical focus. Individual seedstock supplier articles are avoided.
7) It is the duty of the RAAA to proactively communicate with its membership therefore proxy voting is not allowed. This
policy was established in the Constitution and Bylaws of the Association at its inception to ensure that voting members are
current on all pertinent information.
