The winning candidate is : Jon Spriggs MALIN BRIDGE ELECTION : THURSDAY 7TH MAY Yesterday, pupils, school staff and parents came to the Malin Bridge Polling Station to vote for their favourite candidate. Over the last few weeks, the candidates have campaigned hard to get their messages heard by talking to the voters and putting posters up throughout school; they have definitely managed to get their voices heard throughout the Malin Jon Spriggs Bridge Primary community. Election day finally came! The votes have been counted and it was announced earlier that out of our four candidates (Jon Spriggs, Laylah Savage, Jack Smedley and Kya Taylor) Jon Spriggs is the new Prime Minister of Malin Bridge Primary! The votes were extremely close; there were only 6 votes Laylah Savage Kya Taylor between Jon and Laylah in the end! Jon’s win is testament to his tireless campaigning and approachable nature. We are sure he will make a fair and fun leader and will spend the £350 to make Malin Bridge even better! Well done to you all! Turn over for photo highlights of the day... No experience is needed, all you need is a ukulele and some enthusiasm! For anyone who doesn’t know what a ukulele is, it’s basically a small guitar with 4 strings instead of 6. It’s also one of the cheapest instruments to buy and is extremely popular around the world. My name is Kathy Cookson, I’m a Malin Bridge parent who also has over 5 years’ experience teaching ukulele privately and in schools. I am offering ukulele lessons at Malin Bridge and after half term I am starting up a Ukulele club. The lessons and club are for any children in Years 3-6. Ukulele lessons are suitable for children who want to learn faster, or would feel more comfortable not learning in a large group. The cost would be £4 for a shared 20 minute lesson or £8 for an individual lesson. The cost of the Ukulele Club is to be confirmed but will be free for any child who is already having lessons, however numbers will be limited. As well as learning how to play the instrument, the club will encourage singing and performance skills, hopefully leading to performances for parents at some point! If you would like to have lessons please contact me by email or telephone to make arrangements. To register your interest in the ukulele club please send me the name of your child, and their form and the school will contact you before half term with further details. Kathy Cookson: 07867 527853.
