Falls Awareness Week
16TH– 22nd JUNE

This month sees the balance and mobilicelebration of Falls

week which is used
to raise awareness
of the increased risk
of falls in the elderly.
During the week we
will be taking part in
a range of activities
from Tai Chi to
Zumba all with the
different movements.
We will also be visited by a local shoe
retailer, Brantano,
who will be bringing
in a selection of
footwear for us to
try on and purchase
if anything takes our
fancy! Correctly
fitting footwear is
also an important
part of keeping us
on our feet so this is
a great opportunity
if your comfiest
shoes are getting a
bit tatty!
Brazil Fun Day
The OSJCT Resident Fun Day falls
on Thursday 12th
June this year and
the theme is ‘The
Beach’. As this day is
also the official start
date of the World
Cup in Brazil, we are
hoping to bring a bit
of the carnival spirit
to Townsend House.
There will be mocktails, ice creams,
samba and more so
get on your most
sequined outfit and
come and join the
fun!

Brantano Visit
As part of our Falls
Awareness Week
programme, the
popular shoe retailer, Brantano are
coming into the
home on Friday
20th June. They will
be bringing with
them a selection of
footwear for us to
try out. Catalogues
will be available
within the next
fortnight for residents to look
through and
choose styles
which they would
like to try on.
Once you have
done this please let
Sarah know so that
she can ensure that
the most suitable
shoes are brought
along on the day.
If you would like to
purchase any shoes
please make sure
that you have the
cash or sufficient
funds in the office.
World Cup Sweepstake
As the FIFA World Cup is approaching (and who could avoid it!?)
We are going to encourage a bit of competitive spirit at Townsend
in the form of a sweepstake. Just in case England don’t make it
through to the final, it will be nice to have someone else to cheer
for! Sign up sheet is now in the foyer and entry is only £1. Winners
and runners up will receive cash prizes and all profit will go to the
Residents and Amenities Funds.

Plans for the ‘Trust in Bloom’
garden competition are coming
along nicely! So far we have
planted up more seeds than
you can shake a stick at and
construction of the Colosseum,
Great Wall of China, Hanging
