Overarching Question:
How can having multiple perspectives affect our willingness to
explore and create new ideas and concepts?
Thinking like a sociologist: We will be looking into how nature
has adjusted to survive its habitat. We will continue to
explore Tennessee and the different land formations.
Weekly Overview
Writing: With our opinion writing we will fine tune our
organization by using boxes and bullets to understand how to
arrange and strengthen our writing.
ELA: We will study determiners, such as articles and
demonstratives, find them in sentences and learn what they add
to our writing. We will also identify the reasons an author gives
to support points in reading.
Math: We will add elapsed time and word problems to both
time and money. We will also work on making change and
continue to strengthen our double digit skills.
Social Studies: We will continue to study government and
important people in Tennessee. The different areas in
Tennessee (The 3 grand divisions). We will also do a Socratic
seminar on daylight savings and relate our study on time. We
will debate on the need of following daylight savings.
Science: We will continue to talk about rocks, soil, water, and
man-made materials, adding a video on underground water.
This will include information on permeable and impermeable
substances.
Birthdays: Forrest- 11th, Owen- 16th, Olivia G.- 23rd
