Introductory Lab – Weighing the Scales
Materials:

1 triple-beam balance scale
1 electronic scale
1 100g mass
1 200g mass
1 object of your choice (per person at table)
Procedure:

Using the triple-beam balance measure the mass of the 100g weight. Write it down in Table 1.
Then use the electronic scale to measure the mass of the 100g weight. Write it down in Table 1.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the 200g weight.
Now each person at the table select an object that they want to weigh. Make sure that:
 The object isn’t too heavy
 The object isn’t too big
 The object will stay still on the scale
5) Repeat steps 1 and 2, with each person weighing their own object on both the triple-beam balance and the
electronic scale. Enter the information in Table 2.
