Summer Programs
June 26– July 28, 2017
Two-week & five-week skill-building & learning strategies programs for students entering grades K–9
It’s well known that children can lose
considerable momentum when they’re
away from school during the summer
months. Many need ongoing assistance
and remediation to maintain their
progress.
Eagle Hill Southport School
is here to help.
In our summer programs, students
entering grades K–9 are immersed in
integrated programs that are hands-on,
dynamic, and fun.
Hands-on. Dynamic. Fun.
Five-week Programs
Monday to Friday • No classes held on July 4
All five-week programs include diagnostic testing, a parent-teacher conference,
and a “back to school” night where parents can hear from the teachers and
follow their child’s schedule.

June 26–July 28 • 8 AM–12:15 PM • $3,200
June 26–July 28 • 8 AM–12:15 PM • $3,200
In this non-graded academic program,
students are grouped by ability and age
into small classes that focus on their most
pressing educational needs. Every day,
students take classes in reading, language
arts, writing, and mathematics. Lessons
combine hands-on activities, such as
crafts and games, with technology and
traditional paper-and-pencil work. It’s
fast-paced and fun.
This program prepares students to meet
the ever-growing demands of middle
school—more independent work, multiple
teachers, time management, organization,
etc. Structured, success-oriented classes
reinforce students’ existing skills while
simultaneously helping them to develop
strategies and habits to maximize learning.
Expert Teaching Staff
Our summer faculty is composed of
Eagle Hill Southport School teachers (whose average teaching tenure
is 12 years) and guest teachers trained by the school in methodologies
such as the Orton-Gillingham Approach and Lindamood-Bell’s
Visualizing & Verbalizing®. This ensures summer program students
receive the best evidence-based remediation possible.
Two-week Programs
Monday to Friday • No classes held on July 4
Our two-week programs focus on reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills.
Students may register for an early-morning and/or a late-morning session.
Adventures in Reading
Demystifying Math
Reading Camp for Students

Math Skills Workshop for Students
Entering Grades 6–9
Session 1
July 3–14 • 9–11:30 AM • $950
Each session presents the same strategies:
students are encouraged to enroll in one of
the two sessions.
Session 2
July 17–28 • 9–11:30 AM • $975
The early years of reading are critical
for future academic success. Keep the
momentum going through the summer
with this workshop. These two-week
programs are specifically designed for
children entering grades K–1 to solidify
and develop reading skills while still having
a fun summer experience. The course is a
mix of hands-on learning activities and
fun arts and crafts.
Session 1
July 3–14 • 10:30 AM–12:30 PM • $750
Session 2
July 17–28 • 10:30 AM–12:30 PM • $775
Doing math depends on a firm grounding in
fundamental concepts. It’s hard for students
to move forward if their math foundation
isn’t solid. This two-week course is designed
to strengthen students’ understanding of
and ease in using advanced computation
and pre-algebra concepts. Emphasis is also
placed on developing various approaches
to solving word problems and related math
applications. Students may take one or both
workshops. Strategies and activities are
designed to meet each student’s area of need.

How to Apply
EHSS’ summer programs are for any student who would benefit from academic
support. Children need not have a formal LD diagnosis; most, however, receive some
type of services at school during the academic year.
Apply online at www.eaglehillsouthport.org/summer
With the application, remit a non-refundable application fee of $75—payable
online with a major credit or debit card.
Once your application is complete, you will hear from one of the directors
of the Summer Program to schedule a campus visit. During the campus visit,
children applying for the five-week program will be administered a brief
reading and math assessment.
After the visit, the admissions committee meets to thoroughly assess the
potential fit between student and program. Decision letters are mailed within
two weeks. (Please note: applying for the EHSS school year program is a separate
application process.)
