• Students may receive college credit for courses taken at
the high school (i.e. dual enrollment).
• Students have the potential to earn certification,
licensure, and/or a degree sooner than students who
begin their educational goals post-high school.
• Helps students avoid taking unnecessary college
courses, saving time and money.
• Provides parents an opportunity to be involved in their
child’s education.
HOW IS THIS MADE POSSIBLE?
Through the collaboration of the Eastern Arizona
Programs of Study Consortium - local high schools, Gila
Institute for Technology (GIFT), Eastern Arizona Academy
of Cosmetology (EAAC), and Eastern Arizona College
(EAC).
HOW DO I ENROLL?
Interested students must contact the Gila Institute
for Technology Office at (928) 348-3393 to apply for
acceptance into the GIFT Program. Once accepted, the
student should contact the Eastern Arizona Academy of
Cosmetology at (928) 348-8878 to apply for acceptance
into the Academy.
WHAT COMMITMENTS ARE
REQUIRED OF THE STUDENT?
The Cosmetology Program is a 1,600 hour program.
Classes begin the last week of July or the first week in
August and end the following June. High school students
meet four hours a day, five days a week, and eight hours
a day on a minimum of one Saturday per month during
the regular school year. GIFT students follow the full-time
schedule until high school classes commence (midAugust). Once high school classes have ended (late May),
they will again resume the full-time schedule until the
Academy closes in June.
Students are financially responsible for purchasing
a student kit from the Eastern Arizona Academy of
Cosmetology.
