He joined Eagle Star in 1988 and in 1994 assumed the position of Underwriting Manager within Eagle Star Re. He became Underwriting Director in 1996 and subsequently Underwriting and Claims Director. He joined Württembergische Versicherung AG in 1999, being promoted to Managing Director in 2002. He has worked in the Marine and Energy Insurance Market for over 25 years, beginning his career in Lloyd's in 1985. He joined Antares as Hull, Energy and Liability Manager in 2007 from Axis. Prior to joining Axis, he worked at Ace Global Markets, where in addition to his position as Senior Underwriter for Syndicate 2488, he was Head of Marine from 1998 to 2001 and Head of Offshore and Onshore Energy from 1998 to 2000. +44 (0)20 7959 1950 [email protected] Michael Harding BA (Hons) ACII Chartered Insurer Marine & Aviation Underwriting Manager Michael has been involved in the London Cargo and Specie Market for over 30 years, underwriting both a facultative and reinsurance account. He specialises in bulk and liquid commodities, project cargoes and treaty reinsurance. He is a past Chairman of the Joint Cargo Committee and a former member of the IUMI Cargo Committee through which he has built up a network of international contacts. His particular expertise in Specie is in the area of Fine Art and developing markets. He joined Antares in 1999 and has been responsible for the management of the Marine & Aviation department since 2002, helping to grow the portfolio to its current size. He began his career in 1977, joining insurance broker Kirkland Timms. He moved to Trident General in 1984 assuming the role as Deputy Underwriter of the Engineering/ Construction portfolio. In 1989 he was promoted to the position of Underwriter with responsibility for the Liability, Professional Indemnity and Financial Institutions accounts. He has worked in the London Market in a claims capacity since 1982.
