many individual notices to those families with outstanding balances and still they
have not contacted us.
I am required to turn over all unpaid balances to a collection agency. Payment

We will have our Spring Picnic, Pom Squad Performance, and Spring Concert on
Sunday night May 22nd. We invite all of our school families and their guests to
attend. A picnic supper runs from 4:30 – 6:00 P.M. The Pom Squad will perform
at 6:00 P.M. The fourth, fifth, and sixth graders will perform their fun outdoor
concert, “Rocking Around the 50s”. It has been great fun listening to them
practicing some 50s classics. Please join us that night. Where else can you get

We wish to thank all our wonderful volunteers at Mass on Wednesday, May
25th. It is our very heartfelt “thank you” for all the fantastic help you give us and
our school throughout the year. Good Shepherd School would not be the special
place it is without the help of all of you. I want to thank all the moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends and relatives –
including our special seniors – who help in the kitchen, library, learning center, classrooms, coaching, athletic day, and all others areas.
Thousands of hours are donated every year to help make this school such a great place to learn. Thank you all so very much!
There will be a Used Uniform Sale on Monday, June 6th. The last day for the
students to wear their uniforms will be Thursday, June 2nd.
Our last day of school is June 8th. There will be normal busing that day. We will
dismiss at 11:00 A.M. There is NO After School Care that day, June

students attended, our highest number yet! This week is full of fun. It is for
students from the school and parish who are entering kindergarten and up to those
going into fourth grade. Students going into fifth grade and older are invited to
volunteer. Registrations materials have been sent home. If you have any
questions contact Mrs. Lee or Ms. Sewell in the school office.

Father’s Day
Each year I am asked to repeat the following comment. Every year, I get requests
from parents for specific teachers for their child(ren) for next year. My policy is that
I do not honor such requests. I have absolute confidence in every teacher at every
grade level or they would not be teaching here. Class assignments are suggested
by a team of teachers that include the 2 teachers from each child’s current grade
level, with input from all four specialists teachers. The team evaluates the needs of
each child with consideration for the overall environment of each class. Some of
the issues they review are academics, behavior, gender, social skills, friendship, and peer issues, plus a variety of other
considerations. From there, each grade gives me 2 lists of students and then I assign each list to a teacher for the next grade. This
system has worked well for us for many years as it considers what is best for each child as well as what is best for each class.
I really hope to see you at some of our upcoming events, especially the picnic and concert. Let’s hope for beautiful weather that night
as we are serving ice cream and watermelon.
Have a great summer!
Mr. Zellmer

First Grade News
Math: We have been working hard to get our math facts
memorized. We use two programs to help us accomplish this goal.
Xtra math we do on the ipads at school and we can log in to
practice at home too. Rocket Math is a paper pencil program.
Mrs. Vanasse’s class has had 2 High School Seniors coming each
day to help us with our Rocket Math. Miss Hope and Miss Aleeza
are a great help. Miss Hope attended Good Shepherd when she
was in grade school.
Reading: We are trying hard
to reach Mr. Zellmer’s office
with our reading caterpillar.
We still have a ways to go to
make it by the end of the
year. Some of us have read
100 books and have earned a
100 book prize. We all need
to continue to read to reach
our goal.
We will soon begin writing book reports.
It is fun to find out about new books we
may be interested in reading from a
classmate who reads the book and tells us
about the story while presenting his/her
book report to the class. It will also be
fun to learn about the different kinds of
books our classmates enjoy reading.
Some of us really enjoy factual books
while others love to read mystery or
more suspenseful books.
There are a few dates worth noting:
• May 22nd - We have the Spring Picnic and Concert.
• May 23rd - Grandparent’s Day.
• May 13th - We will go to Westwood for the last time in 1st grade.
• June 3rd- Athletic Day
• June 6th- End of the Year celebration picnic
Please be watching for further notes regarding the End of the Year Picnic.
Mill City Museum
The Second Graders traveled to Mill City on April 6, 2016 to discover how
flour was made in this old mill. The kids had a great time and learned so
much about the wonderful city of Minneapolis and how wheat is made into
flour.

GRADE SIX
As the sixth graders approach the end of the school year, they would like to share
some of their favorite memories of their years at Good Shepherd School.
My two years at Good Shepherd have been
beyond what I expected. When I first got to
this school I was nervous, but everyone was so
welcoming. A few of my favorite things about
Good Shepherd are the teachers, field trips, and
fun school projects. Sadly, I’m leaving, but
Good Shepherd has prepared me to continue
my successful journey to Benilde-St.
Margaret’s. I’m so thankful for the teachers and
staff. I will miss them.
Kaia Ballinger
I love Good Shepherd School. It is a fun and
good place to learn, make friends, and enjoy
some activities. One of my favorite activities
during Catholic Schools’ Week is all-school
Hide and Seek. I also enjoy Wacky Hair Day.
I love seeing people and all their creative ideas.
These are just a few things that describe Good
Shepherd School.
Max Erra
I love Good Shepherd because of the people. I
have been going here for seven years, and they
have been the best. Everyone on the staff
(including Mr. Zellmer) are the nicest people I
have ever met, and they all want us to learn. If
anyone in the entire world is lucky enough to
meet them, then their lives will probably get
better. Good Shepherd is an amazing school
with amazing people, and I am so lucky I got to
go here and meet all of them.
Adasha Moser
I remember when I couldn’t wait to go to junior
high. Now, as graduation is creeping up, I keep
wishing time would slow down. It seems like
only yesterday when I got off of my first bus
ride and walked into my new school excited
about finally reaching kindergarten and new
friends, wearing my new light-up Sketchers. I
took my first step into my classroom. That was
seven years ago. That was seven years of
friends, Catholic Schools Week, concerts, faith,
learning, and Mr. Zellmer. Mr. Zellmer with
his ten billion ties, Gopher jokes, and great hot
dogs. I will always hold a special place in my
heart for Good Shepherd, Mr. Zellmer, and all
the memories here. I know you think you can’t
wait to leave, but enjoy every momemt here.
Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Sarah Kangas
I love Good Shepherd so much. The people
here have carried me through all the touch
times. They have prepared me well for my
future at BSM. Every teacher here is so kind
and nice in every way. I will miss this school a
lot. I will especially miss Mr. Zellmer.
Max Benning
I’m glad my parents chose for me to go to
Good Shepherd School. I have had lots of fun
my seven years here. I’ve learned so much at
Good Shepherd. I can’t wait to expand my
knowledge next year at Minnetonka East. I
thank all of my wonderful teachers here for
helping me excel in learning through the years.
I’ve made great friends here, and I think Good
Shepherd is a good place to learn and play. I
have enjoyed Good Shepherd, and I will miss
Mr. Zellmer and all of my awesome teachers.
Thank you for supporting me through the years.
Veronica Mayrose
These past seven years at Good Shepherd have
been a blast! I have made too many memories
to count! Some of my most favorite have been
Service Club this year (because of the
wonderful kindergarteners), fun field trips,
Catholic Schools Week, and awesome projects.
All of these memories couldn’t have happened
without all of the wonderful staff. Good
Shepherd has amazing taste when it comes to
teachers! I am very sad to leave behind such an
awesome place with an unbelievably
welcoming and family oriented community. I
will miss all of you next year!
Elena Latterell
In the seven years that I have been at Good
Shepherd, it could not have been better
anywhere else. The staff at Good Shepherd has
been very kind in every grade. I will miss the
field trips, the Art Adventure projects, and, yes,
maybe the homework too. I wish Mr. Zellmer
a happy retirement after all his years working
for Good Shepherd School. I am going to
Benilde-St. Margaret’s next year for junior high.
Elijah Vroman
My time at Good Shepherd has gone by so fast.
Here at Good Shepherd, I have achieved so
much and now hold so many memories. My
favorite things here at Good Shepherd are the
teachers and the love that is shown to everyone.
I am really going to miss Good Shepherd and
all the staff. I am also going to miss our
wonderful principal, Mr. Zellmer. I really am
going to savor the wonderful times at Good
Shepherd as I venture on to BSM where I hope
to make new friends.
Thank you Good
Shepherd!
Ava Von Eschen
My times at Good Shepherd have been so
awesome. All of the teachers welcome you
from the minute you get here all the way to the
home stretch. One of my favorite parts of the
year has always been Catholic Schools Week
because there are so many fun activities. I will
always miss Good Shepherd when I head off to
junior high.
Jack Mausser
My seven years at Good Shepherd have been
great! I am going to miss this school. I will be
attending Benilde-St. Margaret’s for seventh
through twelve grades. Some of my favorite
things about Good Shepherd are the teachers. I
am going to miss Catholic Schools Week here.
I love playing all-school Hide and Seek and
dressing up for Wacky Hair Day. I also love all
of the field trips like Westwood and Gibbs
Farm in fourth grade. I loved that we got to
dress up and see what it was like to live there. I
liked going to BizTown and inventing
something for Invention Convention. I am
really going to miss Good Shepherd.
Kiley Trochlil
My years at Good Shepherd have been
wonderful. I love how the teachers care about
each and every one of us. My years here have
been fun and thrilling, all with a twist of
learning in it. I left Good Shepherd, but I
realized at the other school that Good Shepherd
was the place to be, so I returned after two days.
Grant Schweigert
Good Shepherd is an amazing place to go to
school. I have been going here for seven years,
and I have loved every one of them. I have had
a wonderful experience whether it was with the
amazing teachers or seeing Mr. Z’s funky ties.
Out of all the awesome features Good Shepherd
offers, my favorite hour of the whole year is
our grade flip. Good Shepherd now has my
two sisters and me, and we are all happy we go
to Good Shepherd.
Britton Lund
I was only at Good Shepherd for one year, but I
had a great time. Mr. Zellmer is really nice,
and it was nice to go to a Catholic school. One
of the field trips I am looking forward to is
Long Lake Conservation Center, but my
favorite so far was BizTown. I liked it because
it taught us how to run a business and use a
checkbook. I’m going to Benilde next year and
looking forward to it.
Thomas Lynch
My experience at Good Shepherd has been
amazing! When I walk in the door in the
morning, everyone knows my name, and
everyone says hello to me. My favorite day of
the school year is Athletic Day. I love Good
Shepherd, and I am sad to leave, but I am also
excited for next year because I will be
attending Benilde-St. Margaret’s with my
brothers.
Tilly Wolfe
While I was at Good Shepherd for seven years,
I had a very special time. Some of my favorite
things about Good Shepherd are all the fun
field trips and activities to get to participate in.
One is Athletic Day because we get to spend a
day of fun, doing events and trying to be a good
sport with your team. I also liked Math Team.
Although I only did it for a year in sixth grade,
I think I learned more in it than in two years of
regular math combined. The last thing I like
about Good Shepherd community is that it is a
place where I can learn without any distractions.
I am sad about leaving this school, but I am
also excited for a new school next year.
Kayla Whitehouse
I had a wonderful time going to Good Shepherd.
Some of my favorite things were getting to
meet new friends and all the activities. I hope I
will keep having a great time at school when I
go to Benilde-St. Margaret’s next year.
Michael Shurson
My time at Good Shepherd has been amazing.
I remember all the way back to kindergarten
the first time I played all-school Hide and Seek
and how much fun I had. The close community
at Good Shepherd is really nice and, as the
years at Good Shepherd went on, the
community got closer. I have loved all my
teachers at Good Shepherd, and I especially
love Mr. Zellmer. I would like to thank
everyone at Good Shepherd who has helped me
grow as a student and prepared me for the years
to come at BSM. Thank You!
Sydney Dickson
My seven years at Good Shepherd have been
great. My favorite parts were Athletic Day and
Mr. Zellmer’s funny ties. I will miss a lot of
things at Good Shepherd, but I’m looking
forward to going to Benilde-St. Margaret’s next
year.
Thomas Sauer
It is going to be very hard to say goodbye to
Good Shepherd. The teachers and staff are so
helpful and loving, and I am going to miss
them so much.
Every year was a new
adventure that I was eager to start with my
classmates. I always looked forward to coming
to school in the morning and seeing Mr.
Zellmer standing there to welcome us. I am
going to miss the sense of family I have here
and all of the extra activities such as sports,
band, Service Club, and Math Team. I have
learned so much here, and I know that I will be
prepared for whatever comes my way at
Benilde-St. Margaret’s next year and many
years after that. Thank you Good Shepherd. I
will never forget this school and community.
Grace Wikenheiser
I have been going to Good Shepherd for seven
years, and it has been great. All the teachers
are nice, and the environment is really friendly.
Some of my favorite things are BizTown,
Catholic Schools Week, and the Christmas
concert. I am going to Benilde-St. Margaret’s
next year, and I hope I never forget all the fun I
had here.
Hannah Vanyo
My six years here at Good Shepherd have been
so great. I am so blessed to go to such a great
school. Some of my favorite things we do are
Catholic Schools Week and Athletic Day. I
will really miss Mr. Zellmer and his morning
greetings and the smile he always has on his
face. I will miss all the great teachers that have
taught me the life lessons I have learned. I
think that going to Good Shepherd will help me
a lot in the near future when I go to St. Louis
Park Middle School.
Thank you, Good
Shepherd, for all you have done.
Victoria Schmelzle
My favorite part about Good Shephed is Mr.
Zellmer. Mr. Zellmer is very nice and has
awesome ties. Next year I am going to St.
Louis Park Middle School, and I am ready
because of Good Shepherd.
Henry Harper
I have been here at Good Shepherd for three
years now. My absolute favorite thing that I’ve
done during my time here is getting to know
my now friends. All-school Hide and Seek is
always a fun thing to do as well. I will be
going to BSM, and I’m sad to say goodbye. I’ll
miss Good Shepherd.
Suzy Haakonson
I’ve had a really great time at Good Shepherd.
I’m really looking forward to going to Long
Lake and going on to seventh grade. Mr.
Zellmer has been an amazing principal. I’ll
miss Mr. Zellmer even though I have only
known him for a short time.
Matthew Jimenez
I am really going to miss Good Shepherd
School, especially all the fun activities and the
awesome teachers. Mr. Zellmer is the best
principal. His unique ties would make you
laugh. My favorite activity has always been
all-school Hide and Seek. I am going to miss
that next year. My favorite days out of the
whole year were during Catholic Schools Week.
We would dress up to the theme of the day for
the entire week. My favorite day was Comfy
Day. Going to Good Shepherd was the best
seven years. The staff is sending me out with a
good education, strong faith, and learning to
help others. Goodbye Good Shepherd!
Annika Almstrom
I have had a great experience at Good Shepherd
School. Out of all the fun things we did at
Good Shepherd, my favorites were probably
all-school Hide and Seek, Athletic Day, and all
the field trips. I came to Good Shepherd in
fourth grade, and everyone was nice and
accepted me right away. Next year, I will go to
Plymouth Middle School and use the skills that
Good Shepherd has taught me.
Gino Gatti
My years at Good Shepherd School were
probably one of the best experiences of my life.
I enjoyed all of the field trips I went on and all
of my teachers. I liked all the grades I have
been in over the years. I also enjoyed all the
special activities I’ve done, especially Catholic
Schools Week.
Joey Lepley
My teachers were one of my favorite things
about Good Shepherd. All of them were very
kind and encouraging. Although I haven’t been
at Good Shepherd all seven years, it has been
an exciting ride. Another one of my favorite
things about Good Shepherd is all of the
activities, like bowling during Catholic Schools
Week and the Marathon. And who could forget
Mr. Zellmer? I am so glad that Mr. Zellmer,
Good Shepherd, and all my teachers have
prepared me for middle school.
Olivea Rothgeb
Ever since I started here at Good Shepherd in
third grade, I have had a great time. I made
many new friends and got a great education.
What I love about Good Shepherd is their
choice of ala for lunch. Athletic Day is also
really fun, and this year I will get to be a team
captain. One of the really fun things I love
doing is Abrakadoodle. So far, I have had an
awesome time. Thank you Good Shepherd for
having me at your school.
Evan Donesky
I have spent seven amazing years at Good
Shepherd School. There are so many great
things about this school. For example, the
teachers are all so fun and nice, especially Mr.
Zellmer. Some things I will miss about Good
Shepherd are Athletic Day, Catholic Schools
Week, sports, and many more activities. Good
Shepherd has taught me what it means to be
Catholic. I hope I can experience that same
thing at Benilde-St. Margaret’s next year.
Ali Tarnowski
I have been at Good Shepherd for seven years.
In those seven years, I have had many good
times. I have made many good friends, and the
teachers were very nice. Mr. Zellmer, Father
Marquard, and all the teachers have taught me
many things and have gotten me ready for
junior high. Next year I will be going to
Benilde-St Margaret’s, and I will miss
everyone at Good Shepherd.
Clara Wachter
My seven years at Good Shepherd have been so
amazing. From day one, I have felt loved and
cared for. I will miss Mr. Zellmer and all the
teachers so much. I could not have spent my
last seven years any place better! Next year I
will be attending BSM, and I can’t wait!
Cassi Gonyea
My first thought about Good Shepherd is
awesome. I love all the teachers and staff.
They have fun and good ways to learn. My
time at Good Shepherd will help me next year
at BSM.
Luca Platt
Wow, I am so surprised. Seven years can go
by so fast. I have learned so much and have
met a ton of nice kids and teachers. I am a little
nervous to start at a new school next year, but I
am sure I will make new friends. I will really
miss all of the teachers here and, of course, Mr.
Zellmer. Thank you so much Good Shepherd.
Angela Zbaracki
My seven years at Good Shepherd have been
amazing! I have learned many, many things
here from all of the amazing teachers at Good
Shepherd. My favorite things from Good
Shepherd have been my friends, the teachers,
Mr. Zellmer, and the fun field trips. Mr.
Zellmer is probably going to be my favorite
ever principal. My times at Good Shepherd
have been some of the best years of my life.
Thank you to all the teachers at Good Shepherd
who have taught me!
Camden Carter
I loved Catholic Schools Week. It was my
favorite time of the school year! I also loved
all the fun field trips I got to go on. I have met
so many new friends, and I will remember all
of them. I have made so many memories here
at Good Shepherd. Everything that I’ve done
here has helped me develop and grow
physically, mentally, and socially. I will
always remember Good Shepherd because this
school will always have a special place in my
heart.
Geanessa Reglos
All six of my years at Good Shepherd have
gone by so quickly! I’m going to miss a lot of
things at Good Shepherd including the alwayspositive atmosphere. I’m going to BSM and
am said to leave such a great school, but I’m
very thankful that I’m going to a Catholic
school and able to continue to grow in my faith.
Good Shepherd is an amazing school, and you
can tell because I always hear people talking
about how should totally go here because they
have a close community and are very
supportive. And where would this school be
without the amazing faculty and our principal,
Mr. Zellmer? Once again, I am going to miss
all the faculty and friends I’ve made and the
community. Thank you so much.
Lauren Alinder
Even though I have only been at Good
Shepherd for four years, they have been the
best years ever. Mr. Zellmer has been the best
principal ever, along with the best teachers. I
have made so many great friends. I will be sad
to say goodbye. Thank you Good Shepherd!
Josie White
I am going to miss a lot of things about Good
Shepherd. One thing I will miss is all of the
nice teachers and all of my friends who have
come here with me through the seven years I
have been here. Another thing I am going to
miss is all the fun field trips over the years like
Westwood and the Minnesota Zoo. I am going
to miss Good Shepherd so much!
Michael Gavranovich

amazing teachers and great community. Good
Shepherd has some great activities such as allschool Hide and Seek, Catholic Schools Week,
field trips, and more. I love learning at Good

think I will ever forget. I will be attending
Benilde-St. Margaret’s next year. I am so
grateful for what Good Shepherd has done to
prepare me for my future.
Sydney Holinka
My years at Good Shepherd are very
memorable. I love that in everything we do, we
are learning. I think this has made me a better
student. I have enjoyed meeting new friends,
field trips, Mr. Zellmer, teachers, Catholic
Schools Week, and Mass. I am blessed to have
had the opportunity to go to this school. I
thank everyone who made this happen for me!
LoLo Landry
I’m so thankful that I got to go to any amazing
