“A bowler’s worst enemy is himself. Personal frustration and disappointment can
very easily become the downfall of a bowler. Relax, take a few extra seconds to
think about your next shot, shut your brain off and let yourself execute.”

“People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they
believe in themselves they have the first secret of success.”- Norman Vincent Peale
“There is so much power behind the word ‘believe.’ I want to challenge you to pick a goal, doesn’t
matter how big or small, but then with all of your heart believe that it is possible. The brain and heart
are powerful tools that we are all blessed with, so let's learn together just how powerful they really
are. Once you have your goal you have to start believing that it’s possible, but not just possible,
believe that it WILL Happen….imagine it, dream it, see it…..BELIEVE it is true!!! If you can learn this
skill it will amaze you that EVERYTHING is possible! Believe!”

“Develop a pre-shot routine. Every tour player has one and we all do it differently. It
helps your mind and body get prepared for your shot.”

““Practice is the time to work on honing your skills and developing your game to its fullest
potential. Once you start the competition you have to, "Dance with the partner you
bring!"
These were great words of wisdom from one of my mentors from the past. It simply
means you practice to perfect your skill. Once you start into the game you adapt or
adjust, you don’t try to fix it while you're playing the game.”

“Don’t be afraid to make a mistake. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing
over and over yet expecting different results. So, the next time you are having trouble
with a particular lane, don’t be afraid to try a different ball in your arsenal or make a
drastic move with your feet and target. Lane conditions are so different today that they
often require drastic measures to conquer. Be bold!”

“If you want to achieve the best results, follow these steps:
1. Always imagine the end result first then trace your steps back to the beginning.
2. Gather opinions, make decisions and execute your plan.
3. Empower trustworthy people to help you along the way.
4. Reflect at least three separate times after each goal/project is over.”

"I've learned the most important lessons in life from bowling:
1. Follow through
2. Say what you mean and mean what you say.
3. Hard work DOES pay off.
4. Dream bigger than you think you can achieve.
5. Spares win tournaments not strikes.
6. Never forget the reason you started bowling. You loved it because it was FUN.
7. You can't get there alone. Find a coach and a mentor.
8. Don't forget to be awesome."

“There are two boxes in bowling. On the approach is the playing box. Behind the approach is
the thinking box. You don’t think in the playing box and don’t play in the thinking box.”

“Always make sure you have a strong mental game to handle all situations thrown at you. Be sure
to pick spares, as they are most important whenever you are bowling. Always have a way to practice; the only way to get better is to practice as much as you can throughout the week. I know that
working hard and staying motivated has been a huge driving factor for myself so in order to keep
improving you have to be willing to work hard. Another way is to set goals for yourself, whether it
is in a league or personal goals about your game. Setting goals is a big factor in this sport and also
helps you to gain experience. Be involved as much as you can and gain experience whenever you
are able to. Gaining experience will help you handle situations and improve your mental game. It
will also help you set goals that will keep you practicing to get better. This sport is fun, so remember
to always have fun no matter what you are doing.”

“When watching the shape of your ball motion, a sharp shape off of the backend looks
really cool but it often is a trap that will get you in trouble when transition hits. More
often than not, you’re better off with more control off the backend of the pattern with
smoother ball path shapes.”

“Believe in yourself and be confident in your decisions. Go with your gut feeling and if
it’s wrong learn from your mistake. Concentrate on spares because they could be the
reason you make a cut or miss a cut.”

“One thing my father instilled in me at a very young age is to always learn something
from every outing, especially the days where things don’t go so well. You know those
days where nothing goes right, missed the cut by one pin or just couldn’t get lined up.
ALWAYS think back and figure out what you could have done or needed to do in order
to bowl better. When you are faced with same situation in the future you won’t fall into
the same trap. You learn more from your failures than from your victories. Your victories help you to persevere through the rough times, but your failures teach you how to
become a champion.”

“I was fortunate to learn early on that the only factor I could truly control while competing was
myself and the sooner I could come to terms with that, the better I would become. There are things
that are going to happen beyond my control and I have to just let those things be and move on. The
focus always needs to be on the task at hand, which is making the best shot I can at that moment.I
always see the glass half full and keep an even keel while I am bowling. Everyone that knows me
understands that my extremes are never too high and never too low. Most of our events are a marathon so I do my best not to sprint to the finish line but rather take it one frame and one day at a
time.I control the things I can and don’t worry about the things I can’t. I believe this has been the
ultimate driver for my success in bowling and in life.”

"Practice with your brain. Compete with your heart.
These are words that I strive to live by. Although it is important to practice a lot, in
order to be the best bowler that you can, I have learned that it is more important to
practice smart. Then, when it comes to competing, you’ll have the confidence in your
skills. Your heart and passion for the game will take over from there.”

“Being great means never being satisfied. Bowling evolves and you must evolve with
it. You have to know that sometimes your best won’t be good enough but at other times
you will outshine and outscore the competition. Bowling can be enjoyed by everyone.
I wouldn’t change anything I’ve done and I’ve loved every challenge I faced.”

“How you do anything is how you do everything. Competition doesn’t begin and end
when you enter and leave the bowling center. I truly believe it is a life skill. When it’s
time for me to take a class in college, I’m going to do my best to have the highest grade
in the class. If I go play mini-golf with friends I’m going to make sure I put myself in a
position to beat them. I’ve never let anyone just win at anything I’ve ever done. This
isn’t to say I’ve never lost, because that couldn’t be further from the truth, but if you’re
going to beat me you’re going to have earn it.”

“It is important to have an open mind when you’re bowling. Don’t dwell on a bad frame as you can’t
get it back; let it go, change whatever you have to change and go from there. You can’t win all the
time. It would be awesome if you could but unfortunately you can’t. But you can however do your
best every time and even if you lose, learn from the experience and that’s what matters. Be at
peace with the world =) It basically just means having a quiet mind and don’t let the small things get
to you, especially during tournaments.”

"Hearing people say you can't, is the greatest motivator in achieving the dreams and goals you set
for yourself. Don't dismay their words, use them as the fuel to drive you, then say thank you to
them for giving you the determination they didn't think you had."
"I bowl my best when I'm happy. Put a smile on your face and who knows, maybe the world will
smile back at you"
"It's not over till its mathematically over. So never, ever give up!"
