Dear customer
We have further
updates about
our works…
Important Information (date changes)
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
 We will be carrying out work on the water mains in your area
 Work will start week commencing Monday 22 August 2016
 Work is expected to last approximately 4 - 5 Months
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Why are we doing this work?
We are investing in your area to renew our water mains network. Our pipes have been serving the
community well for many years, but as they get old they can burst causing interruptions to your
supply and the service we provide.
When is the work taking place?
The work will start week commencing Monday 22 August 2016 for approximately 4 - 5 months.
Where is the work taking place?




Work will commence from the junction of Stank Lane, Brampton Road B4385, working past
Lagden Lane towards the village Lydbury North.
The first section of this work will take place through private land before entering Brampton
Road, we expect this will take approximately 1 - 2 weeks to complete.
The remainder of this water pipe replacement will then continue along Brampton Road
working in sections up to a maximum of 300m with the use of multiway traffic lights and
convoy system with speed restrictions of 10 mph.
Access through these works using the convoy system will only be available for all vehicles
under 7.5 tonnes (small cars / vans), vehicles above this weight (HGV) will have to follow the
sign posted diversion route (please see diagram on rear)

Towards the end of this project we will need to undertake the last section of this work with
the use of a two week full road closure of Brampton Road between Brockton turning and
Lydbury North village. We will need to close the road to all vehicles with access only for
residents. Dates for this remaining phase are still to be confirmed, we will let you know about
this part of the work after further site investigations have taken place.

How do we plan to minimise disruption
We understand that road works can be inconvenient for local residents, which is why we will be
taking the following steps to make sure we cause minimum disruption
 Our contractors Amey, will complete this work on our behalf, to carry out this work effectively and
safely it will be necessary to complete this work using a range of traffic management such as
multiway temporary traffic lights, 10mph speed limit convoy system, and a road closure.
 Access to frontages will be maintained where possible.
 We aim to complete the works within the time frame we have stated above, but will try to finish
before this date
 Traffic management always causes some delays, especially at peak times. We will work hard to
reduce interruption to traffic in the morning and evenings, however we would advise that you
allow more time for your journeys.
 There may be times we are required to interrupt the water mains supply, we aim to give 48hrs
advance notice for any interruptions lasting greater than 4hrs of any planned interruptions.

works for the planned water pipe renewal works in your area.
Will we get the work completed within the time scales we state?
In our experience, because many of the water mains have been underground for a number of years,
when we start to do the work we can sometimes come across problems that can cause the job to
last longer. If there are any changes to the works we will communicate this to you as soon as
possible.
Who do I contact about these works?
