2Ball Stationary Dribble Moves
1. Alternate Inside Out-start out alternate dribble, then turning it into inside
out dribble.
2. Criss-Cross-Balls are crossing each other back and forth with no rhythm
dribble in between. One ball will be in front of the other.
3. Hard Dribble Cross-take a hard rhythm dribble, cross the balls over,
(repeat sequence, every crossover is one rep)…go both directions
4. Circles-turn the balls in a circle with no rhythm dribble, go both directions
5. Skips or Scissors-Pound one ball out in front of your body. Then drop
one through the legs at the same time as you pound the ball out front.
Start out with a rhythm dribble out in front of your body and a rhythm
dribble on the side of your body. Alternate legs with the between the legs
dribble
6. Behind the back-one ball in front, one ball in the back. The ball in the
front stays in front, the ball behind the back stays behind the back. Don’t
turn the balls in a circle around the body. The one ball behind the body
stay behind the back the whole time.
2 Ball Moving
2ball Commandos-working the same area as 1 ball commandos, but now using
two basketballs. Start out simple. ---Teaching Commandos
Start the with one ball in each hand on the baseline facing the freethrow line.,
Dribble out to the freethrow line. When you get to the free throw line you are
making a solid, two foot jump stop, while pounding the balls down at the same
time. You are then making a reverse pivot, on your left foot, throwing your either
elbow back. Keep the balls going same. Dribble down to the baseline with the
ball in your right hand, make a solid, two foot jump stop, pound the ball down at
the same time and make your reverse pivot on your left foot again. Throw either
elbow back, making a reverse pivot. When you get skilled you can just pound
one ball down and pop the other behind the back to make the turn. Repeat this
sequence for 30 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds. -when doing two ball
commandos, you may not be able to go full speed right away, but you should
always be pounding the balls as hard as you can, especially when executing your
dribble moves.

2Ball Same- Pound the balls at the same time, working from the baseline to free
throw, repeating this sequence for 30 seconds…make sure when you get to the
baseline and free throw line you are making a solid jump stop and pounding both
balls down at the same time.
2Ball Alternate-start out alternate dribble, with the balls hitting the floor at
opposite times. Work your way out to the free throw line, from the baseline,
when you get to the free throw line, pound the balls down at the same time, while
making a solid jump stop…you can reverse pivot to either direction, just make it a
reverse pivot. Start again, alternating the dribbles, back to the baseline, making
a jump stop and pounding the balls down at the same time.
Crossover-start out two ball same, when you get to the halfway point, between
the baseline and free throw line, you are going to execute a crossover dribble
with both basketballs in front of your body. One ball with be slightly out ahead of
the other, one ball should not be tossed over the other.
Between the Legs-start out two ball same, when you get to the half-way point,
between the baseline and free throw line, you are going to execute a between
the legs dribble. You, make a jump stop, while splitting your legs in the air, just
like you are doing stationary scissors or skips. At the same time you are going to
pound one ball between your legs and cross the other one over in front of your
body. It should be something like this. Left leg forward, righty between the legs,
lefty crossover in front of the body
Behind the Back-two ball same, at the halfway point, you are going to make a
parallel (halfcourt) behind the back dribble while crossing one ball over in front.
This should be done at the same time.
2ball Kill the Grass
Find an area about the size of a the half-court circle. Start on one edge of the
circle. You are making a dribble move or combination move, across the circle,
when you get to the side, you make a jump stop, pop the ball behind your back or
make a reverse pivot. You repeat this sequence for 20-30 seconds, rest for 2030 seconds. You are not making your moves while moving around the
circumference of the circle. You are going across the circle with every dribble
move.

---Teaching Commandos
Start the with the ball in your right hand on the baseline facing the free throw
line., Dribble out to the free throw line. When you get to the free throw line you
are making a solid, two foot jump stop, while pounding the ball down at the same
time. You are then making a reverse pivot, on your left foot, throwing your right
elbow back. Keep the ball in your right hand. Dribble down to the baseline with
the ball in your right hand, make a solid, two foot jump stop, pound the ball down
at the same time and make your reverse pivot on your left foot again. Throw
your right elbow back, keeping the ball in your right hand. Repeat this sequence
for 30 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds.
Start the ball in your left hand, dribbling out to the free throw line. When you get
to the free throw line you are making a solid, two foot jump stop, while pounding
the ball down at the same time. You are then making a reverse pivot, on your
right foot, throwing your left elbow back. Keep the ball in your left hand. You
should now be facing the basket (baseline). Dribble down to the baseline with
the ball in your left hand, make another solid two foot jump stop and pound the
ball down. Reverse Pivot on your right foot, throwing your left elbow back,
keeping the ball in your left hand. Repeat this sequence for 30 seconds, rest for
thirty seconds.
Start on the baseline working back and forth from baseline to about the FT line,
maybe a little further. Make sure you are jump stopping every time when you get
to the end. When making a change of direction move, the only time the ball
switches hands is on the dribble move. After the move is executed, keep the ball
in the same hand, jump stop, reverse pivot (you are always throwing back the
elbow that the ball is in.)
Inside Out R- make sure you get a jab step in with your left foot…get the
defense leaning to the left.
Inside Out L-jab step with the right foot.
Crossover-Right to Left-get the defense leaning with a big step with your right
foot like you are going to go by them and then cross it back over, taking a big
step with your left foot. Do not let your feet get parallel (side by side) Keep the
ball tight to your body, do not cross the ball in a diagonal direction away from
your body.
Between the Legs-make a hesitation then drop it between your legs…make
sure you are staying low and pushing off your back foot…
Behind the Back-in the full court situation wrap the ball around the back…in the
half-court pop the ball down hard parallel behind the back.

Half Court Drives w/ Tennis Ball
• Place a chair at the top of the key and place a tennis ball on the seat of
the chair
• Start under the basket with a basketball
• Go hard off the dribble from underneath the basket to the chair at the top
of the key
• When you get to the chair you need to make your dribble move and grab
the tennis ball off the chair with your inside hand and continue 10 feet past
the top of the key
o Grabbing the tennis ball simulates knocking the defender’s hand
away when they are reaching: Going “Hand to Hand”
•
•
On the way to the rim you need to dribble the ball with one hand and hold
the tennis ball in the other. When you reach the chair, set the tennis ball
down and then execute your dribble move. Attack the Rim and finish with
a layup. You can also vary the drill so you are working on your pull-up off
the dribble

Tight Chairs
Set up a single row of 5 folding chairs, all facing the same direction. They should
be spread apart about 2 and a half-3 feet apart. Working on ball quickness…
Make 4 trips each move…down is 1 trip, back is 2.
• Inside Out Right Hand, making an inside out dribble move, before every
chair
-down with the right hand, back with the left
-make sure you are jabbing with the opposite foot (ie-righty inside out, jab
with the left foot.)
• Crossover-make two trips with a rhythm dribble before the crossover, 2
trips, using only the crossover dribble…
• Between the Legs
• Behind the back
Spread Chairs
Now taking spread chairs into a game-like situation, placing 3 chairs, 15 feet
apart. Working on all the same moves that you just did in Tight Chairs
Half-Court Drives
Place a chair at Half-court and a chair at the three-point line. You can do this
from either wing or the top of the key. If you set up the drill on the right wing, you
will then set up another chair on the opposite side of the floor on the baseline
facing half-court and another chair at the free throw line facing half-court.
Step up behind the chair facing the chair at the three point line, position yourself
on the right side of the chair so you are stepping in a straight line, not taking a
step to the side to get around the first chair, you always want to be working in a
straight line, going body to body. sweep the ball at the first chair making a big
first step with your right foot, go hard at the chair and make a dribble move, get to
the basket and finish…take the ball out of the net and jog to the next chair that is
on the baseline facing half-court. Sweep the ball hard, below the seat of the first
chair, go hard one dribble out to the second chair, making a dribble move on the
second chair, exploding all the way out to half-court. Make 4 to 6 trips with each
move, and then shoot 4 free throws in between sets.
