Techinque
 Process
of making moulds : Firstly, the artistian
make the first idol with clay (maati).
After making the idol, they spray varnish
over it, which is known as Lacer.
Then they pour rubber on it to make the mould.
Rubber coating takes at least 15 days to dry.
After making the mould, they make very thin solution
of pop by mixing it with water.
Coconut hair gives strength to the pop base.
They tie it with rope to give proper shape from outside.
They dry completely
They spray light pink colour on the idols to give skin
color.

POP comes from Rajasthan and Shadu Maati comes
from Gujrat
 25 – 30,000 Idols per year, are made
available in different sizes, shapes and designs
starting from one feet.
 Maximum sizes of Idol is 12 feet, they produce 400 –
500 per year.
The cost price of these Idols is 30,000/- in Mumbai,
(Retail price).

One should prepare ganesh idol from china clay or mud.

become light weight and more attractive.
Plaster of paris doesn’t dissolve easily water
