Invitation to International
Mikoshi Festival
We, Action Committee for International Mikoshi Festival of Jiyugaoka,
are having the 14th “Kokusai-shinzen Mikoshi”- International Mikoshi
Festival. This event will be a good opportunity to start promoting the
international friendship toward the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and the next
year`s Tokyo Olympics/ Paralympics, We believe that this festival will be
very important for the friendship with many people of the world. In this
event of last year, 29 participants from 6 countries shoulderd our Mikoshi.
We will be wearing original “Hanten” jackets and specially made
“Tenugui”-Japanese head towels. This will be a great chance for foreigners
to experience a traditional Japanese occasion and to make friends with
people in Jiyugaoka.
Requirements for application: 14 years of age or above, Japanese,Chinese,
French or English speaking ability. Japanese must attend with a non-Japanese friend(s).
All nationalities are welcome.
After you have faxed the application form, you will get a participation card.
On the day of the event, please bring the participation card. We’ll give you
a “Tenugui”. Original “Hanten” jackets will be provided for
the day.
You must wear a pair of sneakers and white shorts, pants or similar.
After “Mikoshi” carrying, you can join the BBQ party. Original “Hanten” jackets will be collected preceding the BBQ..
