Karamu House to Celebrate its 100th
Anniversary with a
Blockbuster Weekend of Events, Performances and Special Guests
On Saturday, June 13, starting at 7:00 p.m., Karamu House will celebrate its 100th year at the Cleveland Museum of Art
with a fundraising dinner, live entertainment and performances, impact award presentations, and after party. The
Cleveland Magazine will feature Karamu House in a 12-page insert for their June 2015 Best of the Suburbs issue.
On Monday, June 15, 2015 Karamu House will host Project1Voice, 1Voice1Play1Day live staged reading of HOME by
Samm-Art Williams featuring James Pickens, Jr.
On Thursday, June 11 and Sunday, June 14, performances of THE WIZ, our final 2014-2015 production will be performed
on the Karamu House, Jelliffe Theatre stage. The production of The WIZ will start on Friday, May 29 and run through
Sunday, June 21. Many show dates for The Wiz are sold out, so get your tickets soon.

Throughout Karamu House’s 100 years its mission remains to strengthen community through quality arts education programming with
an emphasis on African-American culture. Our vision is to be a premier African American performing arts and community educational
center.
Today Karamu House boasts two theatres: the 200-seat Jelliffe Theatre and the100-seat Arena Theatre, and is a respected training
ground and place to especially showcase the talents of African American actors. The Karamu Preschool for the Arts is a modern artsfocused educational facility with an atmosphere that encourages experimentation, exploration, investigation and play with materials in a
challenging and supportive environment. With its one-of-a-kind arts education program, Karamu House has helped to educate
generations of aspiring youth and artists to achieve their dreams.
