 JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATION Date 23‐Oct‐2011 Revision JOB TITLE: SKILL CODE: CLASSIFICATION: DRAFTSMAN‐(Piping/ Civil/ Electrical/ Instrument & Communication) Skilled DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor JOB SUMMARY: Responsible in creating and controls all drawings and specifications for construction based on equations, calculations and written instructions provided by designers and engineers for use during the construction process at job site. Prepare sketches and shop drawings for fabrication, for mechanical and for piping modification including civil, structural, and electrical, instrument and communication lay out section elevation as per actual measurement. Able to use manual drafting skills to draw plans that cannot be done or generated by computer as it entails fine‐tuning and revising of plans to meet construction and architectural requirements. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Responsible for knowing and complying site safety rules and regulations. 2.
Conferring with architects and/or engineers, a draftsman initially gains an understanding of the scope and requirements of a project. 3.
Prepares and revises engineering drawings, shop drawings, details, sections, charts and similar documents as directed. 4.
Utilizing both manual drawing skills as wells as computer‐based application, such as automated computer‐assisted drafting, the draftsman creates both two‐dimensional and three‐dimensional renderings of the finished project. 5.
Make simple but professional computation through the use of tables, charts, etc. 6.
Once drafts have been completed, they are presented to the architect or engineer for review. 7.
Following a discussion of any alterations that need to occur, the draftsman makes changes to the renderings. 8.
Make red mark up and reflect then to as built drawings, red sign piping isometric layout as per Clients requirements and standard specification. 9.
Prepares bar schedules and other construction notes. 10. Prepares bill of materials and cost estimates of simple structure. 11. Partly responsible in the orientation of new staff. SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Complies with all Company safety procedures and regulations. 2. Acquire further knowledge by attending training courses and or seminars required by the Company. OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years CADD and Drafting experience, preferably with a multinational construction or petrochemical industries. Middle East experience in Refinery, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, and Power Plant Construction Projects is an advantage. With conceptualization skills to visualize finished drawings and assigned projects. Ability to generate complete discipline drawings with Engineer's supervision. Able to operate manual and computer aided drawing software. Knowledge of geometry and architectural terminology is 1 | P a g e needed.
Very good verbal and written communication skills, has attention to details and confidentiality of documents.
ACADEMIC EDUCATION: CERTIFICATIONS: A bachelor's or associate degree in Engineering/CAD or drafting is required. Completed a certified course in drafting and CADD operations.
