Requirements for submitting a building permit to construct an addition or renovation
The following must be submitted with the application:
1. Sewage System Approval
CC Tatham & Associates is the approval authority for the Township for new dwellings,
cottages, and additions.
The office is located at the lower level of the Township of Tiny Municipal Office and is open
from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Note: In the winter months this office operates on Thursdays
only. Please contact their office 705-527-0119 for applicable forms or with any questions.
2. Site Plan
Two copies of a sketch to scale showing the property dimensions with all existing and
proposed structures including all details in accordance with the Township Building By
Law 15-095. The location of the septic system must also be shown.
3. Lot Grading Drainage Plan- if applicable
The Lot Grading Drainage Plan is to be completed by a qualified person. 2 copies
The Lot Grading Drainage Procedure is available online atwww.tiny.ca.
A Lot Grading Deposit of $1000.00 is required.
Contact the Building Department if you have any questions.
4. Lot Grading Drainage Review Checklist-if applicable
The qualified person completing the lot grading drainage plan is required to provide a copy
of the checklist to be submitted with application.
5. Building Plans
Two sets of building plans prepared by a qualified person.
Energy Efficiency Matrix must be on the building plans. For information on the detail
required on the plans, refer to the Township Building By-Law 15-095.
6. Municipal Application
This form contains information required from the applicant to assist the Building
Department in issuing the building permit If a wood burning appliance is being installed
please complete the section on form.
7. Application for a Permit to Construct or Demolish
All sections of application must be completed. All property owners must sign application.
New property owners must submit a copy of the registered transfer deed of land.

8. Agent Authorization
In the event an authorized person is submitting a building permit application on the
property owner’s behalf an agent authorization form is required. All property owners must
sign this form.
9. Demolition Permit Form
If any existing buildings are to be removed (demolished) a demolition form is required. All
property owners must sign this form, A 357 form must be submitted to the Treasury
Department. Please contact the Treasury Department 705-526-4204 for applicable form.
10. Designer Form
The qualified person drawing the building plans is required to provide a copy of this form
to be submitted with application.
11. Energy Efficiency Design Summary
The qualified person drawing the building plans is required to provide a copy of this form
to be submitted with application. The Energy Efficiency matrix must be provided on the
building plans.
12. Heating Documents
A Heat Loss Calculation, Ventilation Design Summary, Duct Design Layout and a Schedule
Designer 1 Form to be prepared by a qualified person to be submitted with the application.
13. Entrance (driveway) Permit Application Pursuant to Entrance By-law
If constructing a new entrance (fee $50.00) or using an existing entrance an approval is
required. Please contact the Public Works Department 705-526-4204 with any questions.

14. Building Permit Fees
The fees are calculated by the Building Department upon receiving an application as per
Fee Schedule By-law 15-046.
15. Other Approvals
As required to determine that the proposed construction conforms to all applicable laws.

It is understood that all works will be constructed, altered, maintained of operated at the expense of the
undersigned and that work must begin before a permit has been issued by the Township.
The issuance of a permit by the Township does not relieve the holder of the responsibility of complying
with relevant municipal bylaws.
In consideration of any permit issued in respect to this application, we, the applicants for ourselves, our
heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns hereby agree to observe, keep and perform and
be subject to the regulations and conditions of the said permit and to indemnify and save harmless the
Township of Tiny, represented by the Township Roads Superintendent from all loss, cost, charges,
damages, expenses, claims and demands whatsoever to which we may be put or which the Township of
Tiny may suffer or sustain or for which the Township of Tiny may be liable by reason of anything done or
omitted to be done in the construction, maintenance, alteration or operation of the works authorized.
